Jasmine took a deep breath, but her answer remained the same. “There is nothing.”

Hearing that again, Killian lost his patience. “I have enough with your attitude, Jasmine. What do you expect? A hotel to sleep in and a nice welcome ceremony for us when we arrived? We are in the enemy’s territory and they don’t trust us yet, that’s pretty much expected. Don’t try to be spoiled right now. I really don’t like this.”

“Now, I will ask you one more time, tell me the truth. What’s going on?” Killian narrowed his eyes and then made a wild guess. “Did you sleep with Gerald again? Did he force himself to you or you are the one, who was willing to take him to get some drugs?”

Killian crossed the line with his insane guess, and Jasmine slapped him even before she could think about it. Her hand moved on its own, which surprised not only Killian but also her, yet she didn’t regret it.

For a moment, Killian was unable to comprehend what just happened. Even when the slap was not painful, but the shock made him freeze for a few seconds.

“Did you just slap me?”

“You cross the line, Killian. Do you really think very low of me? Is that how you think of me all this time?”

Killian groaned, he wanted to say something, but Jasmine already pushed him from her and then walked away.

Somehow, Killian was very upset. He had never thought that one day Jasmine’s aloofness would bother him.

In the end, both of them only ate so little as they had to go on with their journey to the capital city of the Barlukan kingdom.

Later that night, when they had to stay in another pack house, Jasmine still treated Killian the same with coldness.
