Crossing the Border (Rania) novel Chapter 236

**He Asked Me to Leave My Dreams, So I Decided to Make Him One of Them by Mira Lorian**

**Chapter 236**

“What did you just say?” Karin’s voice trembled as she hastily wiped away the tears that stained her cheeks. A wave of horror washed over her, flickering in her eyes like a candle threatened by a gust of wind. She took a step closer to the young alpha, her heart racing. “Please, explain that to me,” she urged, desperation lacing her tone. “Wasn’t the pack under attack?”

Alpha Letto’s expression shifted, confusion knitting his brow as he processed her words. “Yes, but the situation is manageable. We can control the attack in less than an hour,” he replied, his voice steady but tinged with urgency. “It seems the remaining Barlukan warriors have made one last, desperate attempt to assault our pack. It’s a futile endeavor, really, a suicidal charge. They don’t stand a chance against us; they’re vastly outnumbered.”

With a deep breath, Alpha Letto began to recount the events that had unfolded.

Suddenly, the remaining Barlukan warriors had surged forward, numbering around three to four hundred, targeting a single point—the south gate of the pack.

The south gate was the closest to their current position, and the sounds of chaos and clamor from that direction had reached Karin’s ears, echoing her earlier concerns.

“But don’t fret,” he reassured her, his tone firm. “We have contained the situation. I had all my warriors prepared for such an attack. They must not have anticipated our readiness. This is merely their last desperate attempt to cling to survival, knowing full well what has happened to their kingdom.”

The Barlukan Kingdom had crumbled; King Maximus had seized control, leaving those warriors with nowhere to retreat. They were like cornered animals, driven by a primal instinct to fight back.

Yet, Karin felt a knot of unease tightening in her chest. “No. This attack is merely a distraction,” she insisted, her voice rising with panic.

Alpha Letto’s confusion deepened, but an alarm bell rang loud and clear in his mind. “Where is the queen?” he demanded, the weight of concern pressing heavily on his shoulders. He had expected her to be here with Karin, but the grim reality struck him when he learned that the royal beta had perished.

Karin stuttered, struggling to articulate the events that had transpired. “Those three warriors… they took her to a safe place,” she managed to say, but Alpha Letto shook his head vehemently.

“No, I never issued an order to move anyone to safety, let alone the queen. They need my permission for such actions,” he countered, his voice rising in frustration.

“Then where is she now?!” Karin’s voice cracked, hysteria creeping into her words. Without a moment’s hesitation, Alpha Letto sprang into action, determined to uncover what had happened and where the three warriors had taken Rania.

He mind-linked all the warriors within reach, urgency fueling his every thought. The first place he sought was the safety location, praying that the queen would be found there.

But she was not.

Rania, meanwhile, sensed that something was terribly wrong. While she couldn’t recall the exact location of the pack’s safety place—having not paid close attention when Alpha Letto had informed her—she was certain they were heading in the wrong direction. They ventured deeper into the forest, an unsettling realization gnawing at her.

Moreover, she noted the eerie silence; it was just her and the three warriors, an unsettling isolation that heightened her anxiety.
