Crossing the Border (Rania) novel Chapter 33

“She didn’t eat her lunch when I came to bring her dinner, the food was untouched. I came back a few minutes ago, she also didn’t touch her dinner,” Kean reported all of this to the king, she lowered her head, because she was scared the king thought she didn’t do her job well.

“She is acting up to get your attention,” Declan said without even lifting his head from the document he was reading. He rubbed his eyes a few times, because it was getting late, but his work didn’t seem would decrease anytime soon.

He hated to deal with these stuff’s.

“What she is doing?” Maximus asked with cold tone. He was still livid with her blatant rejection. Thinking about another man when he was fuckin her?! That woman had a huge gut to do that!

“She is currently sleeping.”

Maximus then waved her away, and Kean left the room.

“She is looking for your attention. She tried to make you hate her, so you will send her back to her pack, and she can be with the man that she wanted.” Declan glanced at Maximus, who was being eerily quiet. “I told you to reject her, but you refused. What is the point to keep her here with you?”

“She is going to die if I reject her.” Maximus stared at the night sky. The image of her sitting on the bathroom floor didn’t sit well with him.

He had this urge to approach her, hug her, comfort her, but for what? He would be the most idiot man for comforting a woman, whose heart belonged to someone else.

“Well, in that case, you don’t know for sure.” Declan trailed off. He knew that Rania lost her wolf spirit because of the first rejection, and it was a possibility that she might die from the second rejection. However, that was only speculation.

But then, Declan was not that cruel to outright tell Maximus to someone. The king already had a lot of blood in his hands, he didn’t need to add an extra for that.

More so, Declan was trying to lessen his cruel side. It wouldn’t align with his intention, if he suggested him to kill someone. This situation annoyed the hell out of him, thus he chose not to say anything, and continued to read the reports before him.

But then, he remembered something inevitable that he needed to ask the king.

“What about the introduction? Because you have marked her in public, all of the people knew that you have found your mate. They will be waiting for you to introduce her.”

Since Maximus refused to reject the mate bond between them, the obvious thing to do was to introduce her as his mate, which meant this kingdom would finally have a queen.

However, Declan didn’t see Maximus would do that. There was no indication that he was going to announce anything related to Rania.

“What are you gong to do about that?”

“Let them wait,” Maximus replied nonchalantly, he stared at the distance. He was busy with his own thought, and ignored Declan’s next question.

Rania didn’t know when she fell asleep, but when she woke up, the whole room was so dark, and for a moment, she was having a hard time to breathe. She didn’t like this darkness.

At some point, Kean must have checked on her, and when she saw she fell asleep, she turned off the light. Her intention was good, but Rania didn’t like to sleep in a dark room. It gave her anxiety, because she couldn’t see her surroundings clearly.

It had something to do with what Caden had done to her.

“Ugh…” Rania then used her other hand to press the wound, as she cradled her injure hand against her stomach, and then rushed out of the bedroom.

As she ran, blood trailed down on the floor. Some of the people she met was surprised to see her, and tried to ask what happened, but Rania didn’t stop running.

She was worried about the mess that she left behind. In the back of her mind, she would get into trouble for that.

And when she arrived at the infirmary, thankfully, Lula was there, and she gasped in shock to see her.

“What’s going on?! What happened with you?” Lula immediately told her to sit down.

“I will clean up the blood later,” Rania said. She stretched out her hand for Lula to see.

“Why do you need to worry about that!? That’s not something that you need to worry. What happened with your hand?”

Rania flinched when Lula raised her voice, even though she didn’t mean to yell at her, but the healer didn’t notice that, as she went to work on her hand, stopped the bleeding, and cleaned up the wound.

“What happened?”

“I accidentally hit a mirror.”
