Crossing the Border (Rania) novel Chapter 53

“I… didn’t do anything…” Rania stuttered. She had to calm herself down, because she would look guilty, but it was so hard to do so when Maximus was glaring down at her.

He was livid, and that went without saying. But, she knew the more she talked, with the way she was stuttering, the more it sounded unreliable.

However, she needed to explain to him.

“We talked… we just talked… he was being friendly with me.”

“Friendly?” Maximus scoffed, he stalked toward her, and then sat down on the spot where Eiten was sitting earlier. “He is being friendly, or were you trying to seduce him?”

That’s it. That was it.

No matter what she said, he would never believe her, just like other people. They would say she was at fault. This was all her fault.

She was the one, who attracted other people to bully her because she couldn’t talk straight. She was the one, who made people misunderstand her, because she didn’t say anything when they accused her of something. She was the one, who was at fault when those people didn’t understand her.

Everything was her fault, and now Maximus was the same like them.

She thought, they were going somewhere, she almost felt bad because she poisoned him before, but right now, she wanted nothing to do, but to kill him.

“I didn’t do that. Why do you think so low of me?” Her voice was very quiet, she flinched with the accusatory tone in Maximus’s voice.

“Low?” Maximus looked very cruel when he leaned over, and then sniffed her. “I can smell Eiten on your body. Did he touch you?”

Yes, the royal gamma indeed touched her, but not in the way that Maximus was thinking.

“Did he touch you?” Maximus repeated the question because Rania didn’t answer him right away. He already knew the answer, he only wanted to hear it. Let’s see whether she was going to lie to his face or not.

Rania bit her lip. “Yes, but it’s not like how you think…”

“How I think? What do you think how I think?” Maximus grabbed her shoulder, and tried to rein back his anger. He knew that Eiten wouldn’t betray him like this, but he couldn’t say the same with her.

She was known to seduce her mate, who had rejected her, Maximus wouldn’t put pass Rania that she was trying her way with Eiten.

The thought of that alone made his stomach sick.

It took everything in him not to crush her shoulder. He hated this feeling, but he hated the bond between

them more.

“I… we only talked…”

“What did you talk?

Rania couldn’t answer that.

How could she answer that when she was having a hard time to open up with Eiten, even though he was very sympathetic and patient with her.

And now, Maximus came with all of his anger and raged, demanding the same thing. This time, Rania couldn’t even utter a single word. She was having a hard time to breathe.

This reaction only made Maximus even angrier. His grip on her shoulder tightened. He was very rough with

her.

“Are you planning to get Eiten to bed with you?” Maximus narrowed his eyes. comfort on him.”

“Do you

“The world will be a better place without you!” Rania then stormed out to the bathroom. She locked the door, and she could hear his footsteps.

us locked

“Open the door, or I will tear it down, and when I did, it will not good for you.” Maximus let her hide, knowing there was no place safe enough for her to hide from him.

Meanwhile, Rania was breathing heavily, she rummaged the lower drawer and found what she was looking for. The poison. The small bottle of poison in her hand felt so cold.

She opened the lid, and took more than what she got before. The liquid inside had gone in half. She could taste the burning minty taste in her mouth.

It was ironic, because Rania could feel this poison. This was the first thing that she tasted after such a long time. She put it back in the drawer when Maximus finally lost his patience, and did what he said he was going to do.

The door was burst opened, it hung on its hinges when Maximus entered the bathroom, and his eyes fixed on Rania, who was staring at him defiantly.

She pressed her lips, and looked very stubborn.

Maximus took a long stride and then pulled Rania towards him, once she was close enough, he leaned over,

and kissed her.

Once again, Maximus tasted mint in her mouth. He didn’t have time to wonder what kind of taste was that and why she tasted this way, because right now his emotions got the best of him, and he showed it in anger.

His rage was destructive, as he bit Rania’s lip. He stripped her naked, because he hated the smell of Eiten on her.

He dragged her under the shower, and turned it on. Rania yelped when the cold water hit her body. Maximus was not kind enough to give her a warm water.

“Get up!” Maximus held her by her waist, when Rania was about to curl herself on the floor, because the water was very cold, but the king didn’t feel it. He was under the shower as well, yet the fire that burned within him kept him unable to feel the coldness.

“No, please, don’t…” Rania pleaded, but Maximus didn’t want to hear it, he flipped her body over.
