Ditch My Ex (Gabrielle and Timothy) novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7

What pact?she asked.

You’re pitiful, kept in the dark for twenty years.

No! My father promised me I could go to Tharion!Gabrielle protested, clinging to the hope.

That was just a lie to calm you down. Don’t believe me? Just wait.

Furious, Gabrielle hung up the call, her vision blurred with tears.

As soon as she put her phone down, her mother’s name lit up on the screen. The timing sent a chill through her.

Hi, Mom.She struggled to steady her voice.

Gabrielle, Mr. Goldstein just called me. He said you don’t want to marry Timothy? Her mother’s tone was unusually serious.

Yes, I don’t want to be with him anymore. Dad agreed to introduce someone to me in Tharion.

Before she could finish, her mother cut her off.

Enough. Your father assumed it was Timothy trying to back out. Now that he knows it’s you refusing, I’m telling you this. Just marry

Timothy.

Her mother’s voice was disturbingly calm like she was discussing someone else’s wedding.

Mom, I saw him in the ear with another woman

That’s enough. Men being a little flirtatious is normal, especially

someone like him. As long as you are the Goldstein family’s daughter- in-law, that’s all that matters.

Gabrielle couldn’t believe these words came from her own mother.

Her eyes reddened uncontrollably.

Rain and tears streamed down her face.

Mom, if it were Dad sleeping with another woman, would you forgive him?

Silence came from the other end.

You should go talk to Timothy at the hospital. Let’s put the Tharion plans on hold for now.

But Dad promised me!Gabrielle screamed into the phone. She was desperate to release the rage and despair building in her.

I’m sorry, Gabrielle. Her father’s voice came through the line.

You’re marrying Timothy. That’s final. The last sentence was a death sentence. Her heart sank.

Gabrielle stumbled home.

Or to be more precise, she went to the villa where she now lived alone.

The spacious house felt more like a prison than ever before.

In the mirror, she saw her pale face. Only now did she realize she’d always been just another chess piece on the board?

She stayed awake all night, her tears already dry. And finally, Gabrielle made up her mind.

Chapter 7

If fate gave her this second chance at life, then it was her duty to break free of it.

With trembling hands, she dialed a number.

Two rings later, it was picked up.

A familiar, mocking voice came through the receiver.

Seeking an escape, hottie? FakeDeath Agency, your onestop solution.

The speaker was none other than Zachary Monroe, her college classmate. The rich playboy who always had a lazy grin and treated life like a game.

He had once pursued Gabrielle with great passion, but she only had eyes for Timothy back then and rejected him cleanly.

Zachary simply exchanged numbers with her and never bothered her again.
