Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 17

Jean hurriedly tucked the papers away.

Grandma Grace’s face fell the moment she saw Jace looking so pleased with himself. She let out a loud, annoyed snort. “What a fool!”

Jace blinked. “Grandma, are you calling me a fool?”

He let out a disbelieving laugh. “You’ve never scolded me before, not once. Now that you’ve got your precious granddaughter-in-law, are the rest of us just invisible?”

Acting like nothing was wrong, Jace moved to the other side of the bed and gently straightened Grandma Grace’s blanket.

No one doubted it—he’d always been her favorite. But last night, after she’d fainted and Jean had shouted for help, he hadn’t even shown up. That memory left Grandma Grace feeling cold.

What really got to her was Wiona. Even though Wiona wanted out of this marriage so badly, she’d still given up her chance to leave and stayed to help. That touched something in Grandma Grace she hadn’t expected.

She didn’t want to waste words on Jace. “I’m moving back to the old house. No more nursing home for me.

“I want all of you to move back and keep me company for the next few months.

“Wiona already agreed. Jace, what about you?”

Jace glanced at Wiona, but she wouldn’t even meet his eyes. He had no choice but to nod. “If my wife is coming home, how could I possibly stay out on my own?”

“Grandma, just focus on getting better. Next year, you’ll be holding your great-grandchild.”

Grandma Grace didn’t bother explaining herself to Jace. Whatever she was planning, Wiona didn’t want to know either.

Wiona excused herself, saying she needed to go back to the hospital for a checkup and would be gone a few more days. She was about to ask for the driver when Jace came out, jacket in hand.

“I’ll take you.”

On the drive, Wiona kept busy with calls about her car. She’d already spoken to both the tow company and insurance. Her car was in the shop and the other party was taking responsibility. All she needed to do was sign some forms.

By the time she finished, they were right in the heart of downtown.

“You could have let George handle this,” Jace said.

“By the way, are you feeling alright? Any stomach pain? Have you been getting those shots like you’re supposed to?”

He reached out to touch her hair. Wiona shrank away.

“Your cologne makes me want to puke. If you don’t want me throwing up in your car, I’d suggest you keep your hands to yourself.”

Jace went rigid, his expression darkening.

Her icy attitude put even more distance between them. “Wiona, what’s going on with you lately? One minute you’re prickly, the next you’re all quiet and obedient. I can’t keep up.”

“What do you want from me? What will make you happy?”

Wiona thought, I was so close. Last night, she almost blew everything up, almost tore off the mask and demanded a divorce.

Now, all she could do was swallow her anger and keep quiet. Like that was something she could just get over. She wanted to rip him to shreds.
