He told Wiona that if things got busy, she could not stay at Hawthorne Hall for a while. He hoped that by the time he returned, she would have wrapped up whatever she needed to do and could really focus on helping with Alice’s treatment. He didn’t just lend her Tim and Jim, he also left Korey with her.
“If you need anything, just reach out to him.”
Wiona set down the letter, feeling this strange emptiness she couldn’t quite explain. Honestly, she’d meant to talk to Conrad about taking a break from Hawthorne Hall anyway. She hadn’t expected him to bring it up first, but this actually made things a lot easier for her.
After a good meal, Wiona went back to her room. She’d barely settled in when Tina sent her the new divorce agreement.
“Wiona, Ms. Clements had something come up these past few days, so she just got the new agreement over to me. Want to take a look?”
Wiona immediately sat up and read every word, line by line.
“Tina, it’s all good.”
“I’ll send you the fee. Can you help me handle the payment?”
Tina replied, “No worries, I’ll just deduct it from your salary. You don’t have to send anything.”
“Wiona, I hope everything goes smoothly for you.”
“I’ll be waiting for your good news. We’ll celebrate with champagne.”
Wiona smiled at that message. She’d been planning this divorce for so long… It was finally about to end.
The next day, Wiona moved out of Hawthorne Hall for the time being and headed back to her new place. Five more days passed before Adler finally woke up for real. During those days, she heard that Alona had finally been moved out of ICU to a regular room. Daniel had also snuck back to the Salisbury house. As for Grandma Grace, things didn’t sound good. People said she hadn’t really regained consciousness.
