Alona rushed forward, her voice shaking. “Daniel, please.”
“You’ve already stabbed me once. Why are you still going after Bianca?” Her words tumbled out, desperate. “She doesn’t know anything. You raised her for twenty years. Doesn’t that mean anything to you? Please, stop pushing her.”
Daniel turned, his eyes blazing, and shouted, “Shut up, Alona.”
“Don’t make me do something I’ll regret.” The threat in his voice was so real that Alona froze, rooted to the spot. She didn’t dare move.
Bianca pressed her hands to her head and screamed, “No, no, it’s not true!” Tears and blood streaked her face. “He’s not Mom’s lover. He isn’t. I am your daughter, Dad. Please, don’t do this. Mom, say something. Please explain. Mom!”
“It’s not what you think!” Her voice broke as she sobbed, blood mixing with her tears, turning her face into a mask of pain and misery. She looked so broken, so desperately lost, but nobody in the room pitied her.
Her own words had given Sam away. She hadn’t even denied that Alona took her to see him.
Daniel’s glare cut through the room, landing on Alona. “Anything else to say?”
Alona shook her head stubbornly, refusing to back down. “So what if there is a Sam? That doesn’t prove Bianca isn’t your daughter. How can you treat your own child like this? Aren’t you afraid of karma?”
“Daniel, I gave you children. I ran this family for you. Even if I never got any credit, I worked myself to the bone. And now you bring your illegitimate son back and try to ruin me and Bianca? You stabbed me already. Wasn’t that enough? What do you want, Daniel? What will it take?”
She screamed like she’d lost her mind. Blood seeped from her side, her wound opening again, but she didn’t even notice.
Even Jace, standing off to the side, started to doubt everything. Was his mother really innocent?
He glanced at Isaac, who was watching the scene like it was a show, and Jace felt a sharp ache in his chest, a mix of anger and confusion.
“Dad…” Jace’s voice was unsure. “Maybe there’s some mistake. Maybe that Sam guy just… liked Mom. Maybe there’s nothing else between them.”
But as he spoke, something stopped him cold.
