Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 299

Conrad’s voice cut through the air, cold and sharp, impossible to ignore. When he looked up at the Morgan men standing on the steps, his eyes were so icy and intense that it felt like the whole room just dropped a few degrees. Kyle and Cole both tensed up under that stare. Cole even took a step back without thinking.

“If you lay a hand on someone of mine,” Conrad said, his voice quiet but carrying a weight that pressed down on everyone, “you are declaring yourself my enemy.”

He didn’t wait for an answer. He reached out, gently pulling Wiona behind him, shielding her with his body. Then he glanced down at her, his features softening in a way that seemed impossible just a second ago.

“Don’t worry. I’m here now.”

And just like that, all the anger and danger in him seemed to melt away, replaced by a calm, steady warmth. Wiona felt her guard drop, the knot of fear in her chest finally loosening. She nodded, forcing out a small, shaky smile.

“I’m okay. I even managed to fight back,” she said, a hint of pride in her voice. Between a punch and a slap, she’d technically come out ahead.

She let out a slow breath. She’d made the right choice last night. After smashing the vase, she didn’t run straight out of the Morgan house. She’d been worried about Madison. But she also couldn’t just sit around, waiting for the Morgans to do something to her babies. So she took a chance, searching the house for anyone who might help.

She got lucky. She found the only person she could really trust there, the old gardener, Uncle Tim. He’d been mute his whole life, a quiet presence who’d watched her grow up. When she was little, she used to tell him stories in sign language, waving her hands around and making him laugh. They’d always been close, even if Kyle hadn’t liked it much. As she got older, they drifted apart, but last night, she found him again and borrowed his phone.

She knew he couldn’t answer calls, so she just sent Conrad a quick text, hoping that would be enough before she ran back to help Madison. Uncle Tim didn’t betray her. And Conrad, as always, came through. He had the whole place surrounded before sunrise. He even took down the Morgans’ front gate.

Seeing him walk in, Wiona felt a kind of relief she’d never experienced before. She realized she’d started to count on him, to see him as someone she could lean on no matter what. Somehow, she just knew he’d show up for her, even if the world was falling apart.

Without thinking, she reached out and grabbed a bit of his sleeve.
