Nikolai and Drake both tensed, their brows furrowing the moment the words left her mouth. They’d heard everything that went down today, and neither of them missed the truth—Ms. Morgan’s baby wasn’t Jace’s at all. That accident Jace had happened because he couldn’t handle the truth. Too bad that jerk woke up and forgot everything.
Mr. Sullivan hadn’t made things public, but it was obvious to them. The babies in Ms. Morgan’s belly had to be Mr. Sullivan’s. Someone actually wanted to go after the future heirs of Sullivan Group? The air around the two bodyguards practically crackled with tension. Even Jace could feel it, and it pissed him off. Who did they think they were? How dare they disrespect him?
It was just like Kellen had said. Wiona showed her true colors. When the Salisbury family hit a financial crisis, she dropped him cold and filed for divorce. Jace’s chest ached from all the anger he felt toward her. If he wasn’t stuck in this hospital bed, he’d show her exactly what he thought. For now, all he could do was stew, helpless and furious, feeling even colder toward Wiona.
“What Kellen said is exactly what I want,” Jace said, his voice icy. “Wiona, get rid of the kids.”
Wiona’s hand moved protectively to her stomach. She let out a sharp laugh. “And who do you think you are? If anyone touches my babies, I’ll make them wish they were dead. Don’t believe me? Try it and see.”
She didn’t stick around for their reactions. Without another word, she turned and walked right out, not even glancing back.
Isaac gave Kellen a quick look. Kellen was still thinking about Wiona’s warning, but honestly, she didn’t take it seriously. Wiona was nothing but a divorced woman, a fake heiress kicked out by the Morgan family. Did she really think hiring two bodyguards and spouting a few threats would scare her?
Kellen wiped at her eyes, letting tears pool as she looked up at Jace. “Jace, you heard her, didn’t you? Wiona’s words were scary. Maybe we should just tell her the truth. She treats these babies like they’re her whole world. Maybe it’s better for her if she knows. If she finds out after the babies are born, who knows what she’ll do? With her attitude, she might actually come after us. What if she snaps and tries to hurt me or the baby I’m carrying? What are we supposed to do then?”
Her voice trembled, and she seemed to be genuinely shaking. “I already regret letting her carry our children. Now we have our own baby, and I’m so scared she’ll use those kids against us. Can I really marry you and have our kid in peace? Jace, just tell her the truth. Before you lost your memory, you were going to.”
