Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 359

“Gift?”

Wiona barely had time to process what was happening before Annette waved her hand. Phil stepped forward right away, carrying the sandalwood box Annette had brought downstairs with her. Annette stood up, walked over, and gently pushed the jewelry box and a red envelope toward Wiona.

“Sweetheart, this jewelry set was a gift from the Sullivan family when your father-in-law and I got engaged. You could call it a family heirloom. It’s only ever passed down to the matriarch of the family. And now, I want you to have it.”

Inside was a full set—headpiece, earrings, necklace, bracelet, even a brooch. Every piece gleamed, crafted from pure gold and set with rubies that looked like they belonged in a museum. The workmanship and style were so refined that even at a glance, Wiona could tell this set had real history. She guessed it had to be from the early twentieth century, maybe even earlier.

She stared at the box, completely overwhelmed, and instinctively tried to push it back. “No, I… I can’t. It’s too much. I really can’t accept something so valuable.”

Annette glanced at Conrad. He honestly hadn’t expected his mom to dig something this precious out of the safe for Wiona. Whatever tension was left from earlier faded away. He slipped an arm around Wiona’s shoulders and spoke quietly. “You’re part of the Sullivan family now. Marrying me makes you the matriarch. You should accept what Mom is giving you. It’s her way, and our family’s way, of recognizing you.”

Wiona felt her eyes grow hot. She could sense how genuine Annette was. This time, she didn’t refuse. She reached out and accepted the heavy sandalwood box. “Thank you, Mom.”

Shelly, who had been standing by, quickly took the box from her and stepped back, standing quietly to the side.

Annette finally smiled and squeezed Wiona’s hand. “Good girl. Conrad and I talked it over earlier. You two have your marriage license now, but this isn’t the right time to go public. So, for now, only our family will know. It’s not hiding it, exactly. Since you’re pregnant, keeping things private for now is also a way to protect you, don’t you think? Conrad’s idea is to deal with any rumors first. Otherwise, if more problems pop up later, it’ll just make things more complicated. But honestly, knowing Conrad, everything should be sorted out by the second half of next year. By then, the baby will be here, and everything should have calmed down. We can plan the wedding then. Don’t worry, the Sullivan family won’t let you down when it comes to your wedding.”
