Conrad blinked his sleepy eyes open and found Wiona staring up at him. Her cheeks turned a rosy pink and she quickly looked away.
“Uh, good morning, Conrad.” She cleared her throat and tried to slip out of bed.
Conrad caught her easily, pulling her back into his arms and holding her close. “Where do you think you’re going?”
He grinned. “Your husband needs a good morning kiss.”
He leaned in, and without hesitating, Wiona gave him a quick, noisy kiss. As soon as she did, she pressed her lips together, suddenly shy.
Conrad looked downright pleased with himself. He turned his face, gently pinching her cheek. “So, does my wife want a good morning kiss from her husband?”
Wiona shook her head fast. “Nope, I’m good.”
“Oh, I don’t think so,” Conrad teased, already moving in.
Wiona squealed as he peppered her face with kisses before finally letting her go, laughing quietly.
“Conrad!”
“Can’t you be more gentle?” she huffed, sitting up and giving him a playful punch.
Conrad just smiled, taking the hit like he enjoyed it. He rolled onto his side, head propped up on one hand, watching as Wiona slowly got out of bed. “Next time, I’ll be gentle,” he promised, sounding almost lazy.
Her face was still pink as she threw him a quick glare, then escaped into the bathroom.
By the time she came back out, Wiona had washed up and looked a lot more refreshed. A good night’s rest had worked wonders. She remembered what she promised Madison and waited until Conrad came out before asking, as casually as she could, “So, Peter… is there some story with him?”
Conrad was getting dressed and didn’t miss the real reason behind her question. He gave her a knowing look.
“Why? Are you that interested in him?”
“It’s not me,” Wiona said, waving her hands. “You know I’m just asking for Madison. She thinks something happened to him, so she wants to know more. Is it a secret or something?”
Conrad pulled off his pajama top, revealing a toned, muscular body. Wiona had seen it before, but she still turned away quickly, pretending to focus on her skincare routine.
He put on his dress shirt and, with buttons undone, walked over and rested his hands on either side of her vanity, boxing her in as he looked down at her reflection.
