"Drake, bring up the gift I prepared for Mr. Schmidt."
Drake came forward, holding a big giftbox, and pushed it into Roger's hands. Roger’s face turned an ugly shade of green as he shoved it away. "Conrad, what are you playing at? Trying to bribe me in front of everyone? Are you hoping I’ll take the bait and give you an excuse to bring me down?"
Before anyone could react, the box hit the floor and burst open. Instead of gifts, dozens of photographs scattered everywhere. Everyone stared as the truth spilled out across the room. The photos were all of Roger—cozying up with different girls, posing with children no one recognized, one damning shot after another.
The Schmidt family scrambled to pick up the pictures. Their faces froze in shock. Amanda was the first to break. She lunged at Roger, slapping and punching him, her voice trembling with rage. "You liar! It was you all along! You’re the one who cheated, and all this time you pretended to be so upright. You betrayed me and the kids! How could you, Roger? I was there when you had nothing. My family helped you get here. Is this really how you repay us? You’re a heartless, selfish bastard."
The children crowded around, their voices rising, demanding answers. Roger’s face burned red. He opened his mouth to explain, but nothing came out. His anger finally boiled over. "Enough! Get away from me! Can’t you see what’s happening? This is all Conrad’s doing. He wants to tear our family apart, and you’re letting him. Are you all really this dumb? You’d rather fight each other than see the real enemy? Conrad, you’re shameless. From today on, we’re enemies. This isn’t over."
Conrad’s eyes glinted with cold amusement. "So I’m the one who forced you into bed with twelve mistresses and had kids with them? That’s a new one." The room exploded again. The kids were sobbing and yelling. Amanda clawed at Roger’s face, leaving fresh red welts. Chaos took over the house.
From the sidelines, Wiona watched with wide eyes, then shot Conrad a discreet thumbs-up. Under her breath, she whispered, "You really know how to hit where it hurts." Conrad caught her look and arched an eyebrow, just a bit smug.
