Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 62

“I heard she lost everything in a high-stakes competition, the kind that decides your whole future. It was brutal. After that, she just disappeared from the art scene. She hasn’t painted a single thing since, and honestly, she probably never will. Even if you manage to track her down, there’s nothing she can do for you. That’s everything I know about W. I swear, I don’t have anything else.”

Wiona had just finished when her phone rang. Grandma Grace’s name flashed on the screen.

“Wiona, sweetheart, where are you?” Grandma’s voice was laced with worry. “This rain started so suddenly. Are you alright? Jace said he lost you in the crowd. Where are you? I’ll tell him to come pick you up.”

“I’m by a pond, Grandma,” Wiona replied, glancing around. “Don’t worry about Jace. Some staff will probably walk by soon. I’ll ask them to bring me an umbrella.”

She hung up, turned, and realized Mr. Sullivan had vanished. Relief washed over her.

She stood under the tree for a while, dripping and silent, before suddenly remembering she was still clutching Mr. Sullivan’s jacket. She stared at it, a little dazed.

“Wiona!”

Jace appeared, hurrying over with an umbrella, his face drawn and tense. His stride was long and urgent, puddles splashing at his feet.

Wiona quickly hung the jacket on a low branch and stepped forward to meet him.

He didn’t waste a second. “Why did you wander off? Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you? And now you’re soaked to the bone. What if you get sick? What if it hurts the baby? Are you trying to worry me to death?”

She kept her head down and walked past him, not bothering to respond. She picked up her pace.

Jace caught up, grabbed her wrist, and spoke through clenched teeth. “The ground is slippery. Are you trying to fall again?”

He shoved the umbrella into her hand, then scooped her up without warning.

Wiona froze.

Since their wedding, the only intimacy they’d shared was an occasional kiss on the forehead. So what was this? Was he losing his mind?

Then she remembered. He still thought the babies inside her were his and Kellen’s. He was only being gentle because he thought it was his own child.

There was no warmth in her heart, only a bitterness she couldn’t shake. But she didn’t fight him. She had to protect the babies.

They disappeared down the path, completely unaware of the two figures who emerged from the trees behind them—Conrad and Korey.

Conrad held a brand-new umbrella, now useless.

Korey plucked the jacket from the branch. “Mr. Sullivan, what should I do with this?”

Everyone knew Mr. Sullivan hated having his things touched, especially by strangers. Now that another woman had worn it, he’d probably just toss it.

“Send it back to the Sullivan family,” Conrad said quietly.

Korey blinked in surprise. That was unexpected.

“Yes, sir.”
