Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 81

Wiona’s mind completely froze.

The Sullivan family had been chasing the mysterious “W” for so long. Conrad, especially, never let up. He’d tried to get answers out of her more than once. She had dodged and weaved and somehow managed to play it cool each time, but she never realized Conrad was still so suspicious. And she definitely didn’t expect that drawing to end up in his hands.

Did he know the truth now? Had he finally pieced everything together? Was that why he came to the hospital, hoping to confront her face to face? And when he’d run into her as she tried to get away from Jace, was that what he’d been trying to talk about all this time?

Thinking back on how hard he’d worked to protect her tonight, everything clicked for Wiona. He must have already figured out she was W. But how could one drawing be enough to confirm her identity? She had so many questions, but none of them mattered as much as her urge to run. She’d locked away her past as W so tightly. She couldn’t stand the idea of anyone dragging it into the light again.

Her heart was a mess, tangled up in confusion and fear. She thought about just getting up and leaving, destroying the drawing, and then denying everything if Conrad ever confronted her again. Without proof, what could he do?

With that thought, Wiona started to get up. She reached out and tried to steady Conrad’s head, but before she could stand, he slumped right back onto her shoulder. His face was streaked with blood, his whole body battered and exhausted.

She tried to help him up a couple more times, but eventually she just let her hands fall back into her lap. If he hadn’t been trying to shield her, a man like Conrad would never have gotten this hurt. But the only reason he was protecting her was because she was W.

Wiona let out a frustrated sigh, her hand unconsciously coming to rest on her stomach.

What a mess.

If he wasn’t the biological father of the babies she was carrying, maybe she could have just left. His people would find her soon, anyway. But she couldn’t bring herself to walk away.

“Guess I really do owe you,” she whispered under her breath.

She settled back, letting his head rest on her shoulder, letting this bloodied, broken man lean all his weight against her. They stayed like that for what felt like forever, until a sudden beam of light cut into the darkness.

“Mr. Sullivan?”

Korey showed up, flanked by a dozen men. The moment he saw Conrad covered in blood, his face changed.

“Mr. Sullivan!” he shouted.

Conrad was completely out of it, not responding at all, no matter how many times Korey called his name. Korey glanced at Wiona, so many questions in his eyes, but in the end he didn’t say a word.

“Get Mr. Sullivan up,” Korey ordered quietly.

Together, they managed to get Conrad onto a bodyguard’s back. Korey turned to Wiona. “Mrs. Salisbury, do you want us to take you home?”
