Divorced Dazzling and Desired novel Chapter 13

**Raindrops Kissing Silent Streets – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 13**

For Adam, the unfolding scene was nothing short of a delightful surprise. A genuine smile spread across his face as he nodded in agreement, feeling a lightness in the atmosphere.

“Yeah, we’re pretty lucky,” he replied, his voice laced with an easy charm.

“Now, let’s have this couple share a kiss! Give them a big round of applause!” Benjamin exclaimed, his enthusiasm electrifying the air around them.

The crowd erupted into applause, clapping rhythmically as the atmosphere thickened with anticipation.

“Kiss! Kiss!” the crowd chanted, their voices rising in a playful crescendo.

“Kiss!”

“Kiss, kiss, kiss!”

The excitement surged, and every gaze in the room was fixated on them, creating a palpable tension that filled the space.

Adam felt a flicker of hesitation. With Renee present, he was acutely aware of the implications. He didn’t want to appear too eager, not in front of her.

But Kayla, ever the opportunist, seized the moment. With a swift motion, she lifted her mask, revealing her flawless complexion beneath. Rising onto her tiptoes, she leaned in and pressed her lips against his, a bold act that took him by surprise.

The crowd around them was composed of the city’s elite, a gathering of the affluent and the noble from Harborview City. After that kiss, Kayla had a plan brewing in her mind. She envisioned a scenario where Adam would remove his mask, revealing their connection to the world. She longed to showcase just how intimate their bond truly was.

Once that happened, securing her place as Adam’s wife would be a mere formality.

Adam’s expression faltered as he cast a casual glance around the hall, his eyes landing on Renee, who was seated not too far away.

Their eyes locked across the dimly lit room, and even in the soft glow of the ambiance, he could sense the icy chill emanating from her. Her gaze was sharp, cutting through the merriment like a knife.

In that moment, Renee took a slow sip of her juice, placing the glass down with a deliberate calmness. Then, without a word, she rose and made her way toward the exit of the ballroom.

A wave of panic washed over Adam. He instinctively pushed Kayla away and maneuvered through the throng of guests, desperate to follow Renee.

“Adam?” Kayla called out, her voice rising in pitch, laced with confusion. “Adam! Where are you going?!”

Left standing amidst the crowd, Kayla gripped her mask tightly, a frown creasing her brow as anger bubbled within her.

As she scanned the room, she caught sight of whispers floating among the guests. Some exchanged sneers and contemptuous glances, as if she were a spectacle on display. The humiliation threatened to engulf her.

“Oh my god, what’s going on?” one voice murmured.

“Aren’t they a couple?” another questioned, bewildered.

“What’s happening?”

“Did she just say Adam? Adam Graham? Isn’t Mrs. Renee Whitley supposed to be his wife?”

“Is this woman his lover?”

“That lady looks like the heiress of the Spencer family, doesn’t she?”

The murmurs grew louder, fingers pointed in her direction.

Kayla’s cheeks flushed with a mix of anger and embarrassment, her body trembling with a fierce indignation. The cruel words cut deep, igniting a fiery rage within her. She yearned to confront Renee right then and there!

It was all Renee’s doing!

If it weren’t for her, Adam wouldn’t have abandoned her like that.

“What are you staring at? Never seen a couple argue before?” Kayla snapped, crafting an excuse as she stormed away from the crowd, her fury palpable.

Benjamin stood momentarily stunned by the unfolding drama. After a brief, awkward silence, he announced, “Looks like this couple is having some issues. According to the rules, that means they forfeit. Let’s move on and find the next lucky couple!”

Adam re-entered the room only to find Renee already stretched out and asleep, her breathing steady and calm.

He approached her quietly, concern etched on his face. “Renee, what’s wrong?” he asked softly.

Renee remained composed, showing no signs of distress despite the earlier chaos.

“I’m feeling a bit seasick and want to sleep,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
