Dakota’s face turned red with rage as she rose to her feet. “What nonsense? How can you just walk in here and demand something like that? You must be delusional.”
Katie’s aunt fixed her with a stern look. “Does being with that new Alpha make you think you have some kind of new power or strength?”
Her uncle added, “You better remove yourself from the premises before you’re removed.”
Katie didn’t flinch.“I worked as a slave in your home for years. You guys took over my parents hard–earned work, blood, sweat, and tears after their demise. I sat back and did nothing. Now I realize I should have fought for all these in the beginning.”
Dakota’s laughter was sharp, her face twisted in scorn. “What is this nonsense? Does she think she’s qualified to be CEO?”
“As a matter of fact, I am. And starting today, your position would be a junior executive in the lowest rank. Maybe that would teach you some manners.”
Dakota’s face turned red, her eyes bulging with rage. “Can you imagine this little bitch?” she gasped, turning to her parents.
Her mother spoke up, her voice shrill. “Katie, are you sick in the head? What gives you the right to appoint roles? Who do you think you are?”
Just then, Lucian appeared with his men, his presence commanding attention.
‘In fact, she has every right,” he said. “And if she decides to kick you all out this second, she has the right.”
Dakota’s father standing up with a sheepish smile. “Ah, son–in–law, we didn’t know you wer visiting us today.”
Lucian raised a brow, his expression cold. “I’m not your son–in–law anymore. And I don’t regar you as my wife’s parents either. Because all you did was treat her dirty.”
Dakota’s mother tried to intervene, her voice sweet. “Maybe there’s some misunderstanding, bu t can definitely be worked on, right?”
‘Nothing needs to be worked on,” he said. “The only thing is to give Katie her right as CEO.”
He brought out papers, distributing them to everyone in the room.
The documents indicated that Katie was entitled to the position, and Lucian added that he had plans to invest hugely in the company.
The members started whispering and nodding,
Dakota’s voice shrill with protest. “How come? But she doesn’t have any experience!”
Katie’s response was calm. “Just because I’ve been in the sidelines doesn’t mean I’m clueless, okay?”
Dakota’s challenge was direct. “How about you prove yourself worthy? The company is currently suffering some losses. Can she turn it around?”
Katie’s smile was confident. “I’ve seen the financial records. Give me at least one month. I can
even turn it around before that.”
Dakota’s voice was taunting. “Are you really taking on the challenge? If you fail, you have to get out and never return.”
Katie’s response was swift. “And if I win, you all would be banned permanently. Deal?”
Dakota huffed. “Okay, fine. But I just can’t wait for you to make a fool of yourself.”
Lucian’s voice was authoritative. “Okay, everybody has gone through the paperwork. All in favor of giving Katie a trial of being the new CEO?”
The members murmured, one by one raising their hands in support.
Dakota and her parents seethed with anger.
As the members congratulated Katie, their applause filled the room.
Katie turned to her aunt and uncle. “Starting today, you both are dismissed.”
‘This isn’t over yet.” They stormed off angrily.
Katie turned to Dakota, her smile sweet. “Very soon, you’d be shown to your new station as a
unior executive. I hope you enjoy your time here and stay out of trouble.”
Dakota scowled. “You should enjoy it while it lasts, because it wouldn’t even last.”
With a dramatic flip of her hair, she walked out.
Katie heaved a sigh, a headache forming.
.ucian flashed her a calm smile. “Alright, I’d be over to attend to some pack duties. I’ll see you
ater at home?”
Katie smiled, thanking him.
.ater that day, Katie sent a memo outlining her new policies. The memo included:
Flexible working hours to improve work–life balance
A zero–tolerance policy for bullying and harassment Regular team–building activities to boost morale
A mentorship program for new employees
A reward system for outstanding performance
An open–door policy for feedback and suggestions
However, unbeknownst to her, Dakota got a hold of the memo before it was sent out. She read hrough it, her anger growing as she realized how well–received it would be.
Determined to sabotage Katie, Dakota altered the memo. Then replaced it with ridiculously hard ules that would be difficult to follow. The new memo included:
Mandatory 12–hour workdays, 6 days a week
A strict dress code that would be monitored daily
A zero–tolerance policy for any mistakes, resulting in immediate termination
