Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 259

James hadn’t expected to see Emmy at the door.

He froze for a second before reaching out and pulling her into the room.

Emmy frowned, lowering her voice. “What are you doing here?”

She eyed him suspiciously. “Did someone mistake you for somebody else?”

James was still trying to come up with a lie, but as soon as she said that, he nodded. “Yeah.”

Emmy’s heart dropped, a chill running through her. Pretending to be Mr. Nelson? That was basically signing a death wish.

She grabbed his hand and tried to drag him toward the door. “We have to get out of here, now. If Mr. Nelson catches us, we’re screwed!”

She twisted the doorknob, but it wouldn’t budge. She tried again, harder, but the door was locked from the outside.

“What’s going on?” Emmy turned to him, her face tense.

James stepped up and tried the door himself. His expression darkened instantly.

He put it together quickly, frowning. “Someone locked us in here on purpose.”

His gaze landed on the incense burning on the table. The scent was faint but made his heart race.

He stared at the curling smoke, eyes dark, lips pressed tight. He knew that drug—harmless, but notorious for being an aphrodisiac.

You couldn’t even buy this stuff, not even if you had money or connections. Who set this up? Was his brother up to his old tricks again?

He sighed and rubbed his temples, looking frustrated.

The room felt hotter by the second.

Emmy’s throat was dry, her cheeks flushed red. “Is there any water?”

James already felt the effects, but he was better at hiding it. He’d planned to outwait whoever set this up, but he hadn’t expected Emmy to walk in.

Seeing her face turn bright red, he grabbed a bottle of water from the mini-fridge and handed it to her. “Your period’s over?”

“Yeah.”

She gulped down the water, but it didn’t help. She still felt feverish and restless.

Her eyes drifted to his lips, and she quickly shook her head, trying to snap out of it.

“No, we can’t stay here. We have to get out!”

But before she could move, James pulled her into his arms.

He leaned in, his voice low and rough. “If we can’t get out, maybe we should just stay here for the night.”

His warm breath grazed her neck, and Emmy nearly went limp in his arms.

“Stop it! What if Mr. Nelson comes in? There’s no way we can explain ourselves!”

Her soft body pressed up against him, her breath sweet and shaky.

James didn’t let go. He held her tighter and chuckled softly right by her ear. “In that case, there’s nothing left to explain.”

Suddenly, his hand closed over hers. He leaned down and pressed a burning kiss to the corner of her eye.

“There aren’t any condoms. Are you sure about this?”

Emmy paused.

But that heat inside her was too much. She couldn’t care less about anything else.

Abriella always joked that she was super fertile, but she’d been married to Dean for seven years in her past life and never got pregnant once, no matter how hard they tried. What were the odds she’d get pregnant now? Plus, her period had just ended yesterday. She was safe.

She just gave up. “If there aren’t any, there aren’t any. If I get pregnant, then I’ll have the baby.”

She tilted her head and kissed him, her voice muffled against his lips. “Stop talking. Hurry up.”

James’s eyes darkened with desire.

In no time, their clothes were scattered all over the floor.

Across the room, the fish tank was in chaos. The two butterfly-tailed goldfish slammed into each other, chasing and tumbling through the murky water, their peaceful world completely upended.

Again and again, they darted toward the surface, splashing water everywhere, only to fall back down, their fins tattered and tangled, still refusing to let go.

Just before she lost consciousness, Emmy caught a glimpse of wild, possessive hunger in his eyes.

And for a split second, the face in front of her blurred, overlapping with Mr. Nelson’s in her mind.

For a moment, it really felt like she’d just slept with Mr. Nelson.
