Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 524

The old lady was at it again, fussing as she always did. “You two should really get the gender checked soon. What if it’s twins—a boy and a girl? That would be such a blessing! Even if it’s just two boys, that’s wonderful too. With you and Emmy’s genes, those kids are bound to be something special.”

James didn’t say a word, just quietly stirred the dumplings in the pot, making sure they didn’t stick.

She gave him a look, half exasperated and half amused. “You really are impossible to read. I’ll never understand what Emmy saw in you.”

With that, she grabbed her cane and ambled out of the kitchen.

Soon enough, three steaming bowls of dumplings made their way into the sunroom. Emmy was there, sitting with the old lady, both of them admiring a blooming orchid and chatting away.

The smell of the meat and wild greens hit Emmy, and her stomach growled. She couldn’t help herself.

“Try one!” the old lady said, her face glowing with pride. “The greens in the filling—I grew them myself. You won’t find flavor like this anywhere else.”

Emmy picked up a dumpling, blew on it gently, and took a bite. The richness of the meat and the freshness of the greens blended perfectly—absolutely delicious.

Her eyes lit up. “This is amazing. Really, really good.”

The old lady looked even more pleased, chin tilting up. “Of course. All my grandkids love these. Not a single one can resist.”

She snuck a glance at James, who was already digging in, and a soft sigh passed through her. Out of all her grandsons, James was the busiest, and the one she worried about most. So when she heard he was bringing Emmy home, she’d gone out herself to pick the greens and make the filling from scratch.

Emmy, being pregnant, didn’t have much of an appetite. She managed half a bowl before she was full.

James finished his own, then, without missing a beat, poured what was left of Emmy’s dumplings into his own bowl and finished them off, broth and all, in a few quick bites.

Emmy’s cheeks flushed a little. She felt embarrassed, but also a little warm inside.

The old lady noticed and just beamed, her eyes full of contentment. “If you like them, I’ll pack up the rest for you to take home.”

Seeing how much James enjoyed the food, Emmy smiled and looked at the old lady. “Grandma, could you teach me how to make these? They’re just too good.”
