Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 580

Everyone was stunned into silence by her words. She had made her point with confidence and clarity, mixing just the right amount of firmness and persuasion. All around the table, people started to rethink their positions.

Juan couldn’t take his eyes off her. At first, there was surprise, but then something warmer lit up in his gaze, a spark of admiration and maybe even something more.

This was the kind of woman he wanted to marry. Smart, strong, and absolutely radiant.

After a long pause, Grandpa Buckley finally spoke, his brows knit in worry. “But… what if our rivals end up laughing at us?”

Emmy gave him a gentle, knowing smile.

“Grandpa Buckley, let me ask you this. A couple of years ago, Nelson Corporation started a project to recycle and process city waste. Not exactly the kind of thing that sounds fancy, right?”

She paused for a second, letting her words sink in.

“Would you make fun of Nelson Corporation for that?”

“Or, honestly, would you even dare?”

The entire room went quiet again.

Nobody in their right mind would dare laugh at such a business powerhouse.

Suddenly, Juan stood up. “Ms. Eincoln, you have my support.”

He looked straight at Emmy, his eyes burning with conviction. “As long as Starlight Corporation keeps leading the way and getting stronger, those so-called competitors will only be jealous. They won’t have any reason to laugh at us.”

Emmy didn’t say anything else. She just glanced at Danny.

He immediately got the message, stepping forward to hand out the prepared documents to each board member who hadn’t signed yet.

Emmy’s eyes swept over each of them, unreadable.

She had made her stance crystal clear. There was no going back now.

Signing meant saving face for everyone.

Refusing would mean openly challenging her, the biggest shareholder in the room.

It finally hit the senior board members.

This meeting was supposed to be their chance to pressure Emmy, to strong-arm her into scrapping what they thought was a ridiculous idea.

But look how it turned out.

She had completely flipped the script, turning their ambush into a signing session for the project right in front of everyone.

One by one, their faces fell, but in the end, they all signed.

Danny worked quickly, gathering up the signed documents.

“I’ll get these processed right away.”

Emmy nodded, then turned back to Sylvia, who had been standing quietly behind her the whole time.

She didn’t call the meeting to a close just yet. Instead, she introduced Sylvia to the group.

Ten seconds passed. Then thirty. Then a full minute.

Her screen stayed quiet.

The smile on Emmy’s face faded a little. He was probably just busy, she told herself.

She set her phone down and got back to the mountain of paperwork on her desk.

Time slipped by, and before she knew it, lunchtime had arrived.

Still nothing on her phone.

Emmy pressed her lips together, feeling a twinge of worry. She opened her chat with Brett.

[Do you know what James is up to?]

Brett replied right away. [Sis! James finished the drill, then got a call and left in a hurry. Seemed urgent.]

Emmy felt her heart clench.

She knew James’s job could be unpredictable, so she didn’t ask any more questions, but she couldn’t help feeling anxious.

[Okay, thanks for letting me know.]

She put her phone down, straightened up her desk, and was just about to head out for lunch.

Suddenly, Danny rushed in, clutching his tablet. “Ms. Eincoln, something’s happened! There’s a big problem at Nelson Corporation!”
