That was pretty much how most of the board felt. Still, because this project was Emmy’s idea, nobody wanted to be the first to shoot it down. So things had stalled, and they decided to call a board meeting.

Emmy listened, her face unreadable.

She turned to Sylvia. “You’re coming to the board meeting with me. This project is going through, just as planned.”

Sylvia’s heart skipped a beat. She hadn’t expected Ms. Eincoln to trust her like this, to stand by a project that almost everyone else had already written off. The fire inside her, which had nearly burned out, sparked back to life.
