Emmy didn’t say another word before ending the call. She stood by the window, thoughts spinning as she tried to figure out how to help Nelson Corporation out of this mess.
Mr. Nelson had helped her so many times. There was no way she could just watch his company tumble from the top.
Turning around, she gave Danny a quick instruction.
“Let the PR team at Starlight Corporation know. From now on, we need to do everything we can to help Nelson Corporation calm things down.”
Danny was caught off guard but nodded right away. “Yes, Ms. Eincoln.”
Emmy knew that, compared to the massive PR resources at Nelson Corporation, what Starlight could offer was barely a spark in a storm.
Still, a spark was better than nothing.
At lunch, Emmy dragged Sylvia to the cafeteria with her. They had just sat down and were talking about the crisis when Emmy’s phone buzzed on the table.
The screen lit up with a familiar profile picture.
[Sorry, babe. I was busy and missed your message.]
[Did you eat?]
Emmy felt her tension melt away in an instant. She smiled, picked up her phone, snapped a photo of her lunch, and sent it back.
[Eating now. What about you?]
Across the city, in Nelson Corporation’s top floor conference room, the mood was heavy.
“We need to release a statement now, reach out to the victim’s family, and come up with a compensation plan they’ll accept!”
“No way! If we compensate right now, it’s basically admitting we’re at fault. The media will eat us alive!”
Everyone was shouting over each other.
Tyler rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
James, though, just took his phone from his assistant, ignoring the chaos around him.
Right now, the only thing that mattered to him was the person on the other end of his screen.
A photo popped up—a simple lunch, three dishes and a bowl of soup, looking healthy and light.
