Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 588

Ben’s brow knit even tighter. “We can’t do anything illegal. Honestly, we don’t have to have another kid. Eve and Dean are enough.”

The second Dean’s name came up, Claudia’s eyes turned icy.

“Dean looks at me like he wants me gone. I just want a child who’s really ours, with both our blood. And look at Dean now, he barely talks to you. Ben, we have to think about what’s best for us.”

Ben sighed, sounding tired. “We’re not getting a surrogate. You should focus on your health, and we’ll try again ourselves.”

Claudia let the topic drop and picked up a few documents on his desk, flipping through them. “Why are you still so swamped?”

A shadow passed over Ben’s face.

“After that last meeting with the higher-ups, I’ve been pushed to the sidelines. Now I get every job nobody else wants.”

He didn’t really get it.

The meeting wasn’t even a big deal. It all started because he reported the Dragon Scale Special Forces. Ever since then, people had cut him out. He was left out of every important meeting, and his workload only got heavier, filled with stuff that just wore him down for nothing.

Claudia acted like it was nothing. She reached out, her finger tracing gently along his throat.

“Don’t worry. My husband is the best there is.”

“You’ll be back on top soon. Just wait and see.”

She leaned in, her breath warm against his ear. “Next year, you’ll be the one everyone’s calling Mr. President.”

Ben’s eyes narrowed, sharp and guarded. “What are you up to?”

His voice dropped, low and tense. “Don’t forget your past. I cleaned things up for you before, but if you get caught again, even I won’t be able to help.”

Claudia just smiled. “Relax, I haven’t done anything.”

Her hands moved to his shirt, working the buttons open. Her fingers traced slow circles over his chest.

“It’s time we had a baby, don’t you think?”

Her lips brushed his skin, trailing lower, her whole body soft and sinuous as she slipped down to her knees on the thick carpet.

She undid his belt.

“Mmm…”

A low sound rumbled from Ben, his hand sliding to the back of her head. His eyes darkened, hunger taking over.

A moment later, he scooped her up and carried her straight to the bedroom.

The next morning, Emmy didn’t wake up until almost nine. Even though last night hadn’t been the first time things got so wild, she still felt sore all over, muscles heavy and warm.

Danny cleared his throat and called out to the firefighters gathered around.

“Hey everyone, these are from Ms. Eincoln at Starlight Corporation. You might know her as James’s wife. She wanted to make sure you all had what you need to stay warm this winter, both on the job and off.”

“She hopes these thermals and coats keep you toasty so you can take care of everyone else out there.”

“Please accept this little thank you for all your hard work.”

The whole firehouse lit up. All these big, tough guys crowded around, whooping and grinning.

“Whoa, I know this brand! Each jacket’s gotta cost over a thousand.”

“James, your wife is amazing. She actually thought about all of us.”

“This is real love, man. She’s worried about you and decided to take care of the whole crew.”

“James, we’re only getting this stuff because of you.”

James felt a rush of pride, even if he tried to play it cool. The smile tugging at his lips gave him away.

Hands in his pockets, chin up, he said with a half-smirk, “She mostly just doesn’t want me getting cold.”

A loud cheer went up, all his brothers teasing and hollering, half jealous and totally happy for him.
