Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 645

“Miss, are you cold?” Ivy asked, noticing how pale Emmy looked. She started to reach for another blanket. “Should I cover you with one more?”

“No, I’m fine.” Emmy rubbed her eyes, still half-asleep. “Aren’t we home yet?”

Teresa spoke gently. “Ivy’s husband just got to the hospital. We’re dropping her off first. Do you want to come in and see him?”

Ivy quickly shook her head. “It’s so easy to catch something at the hospital this time of year. You’re pregnant, Miss. Better stay in the car.”

Emmy glanced out the window. The car had already pulled into the hospital parking lot.

She thought about how Ivy had looked after her all these years, almost like family. Now Ivy’s husband was sick, and they were right outside. Emmy knew she couldn’t just sit in the car and not go check on them.

“It’s alright. I’ll just put on a mask.”

She rubbed her right eye again. It was twitching so badly, making her feel restless and uneasy. It was like a warning in the back of her mind, as if something bad was about to happen.

By then, Teresa and Marian had already gotten out, with two bodyguards close behind.

Emmy pulled on her mask, tightened her scarf, and stepped out after Ivy.

Her phone started buzzing in her pocket.

She took it out while walking, saw James’s name flashing, and answered. A smile was just starting to form when his voice came through, tight with worry.

“You’re being followed by Evelina. Don’t get out of the car.”

Emmy froze, not quite processing his words, when the roar of an engine cut through the air, growing louder by the second.

She turned instinctively. At the end of the drive, a black sedan suddenly sped toward her, no warning, nothing to block its path.

It was coming way too fast.

“Miss, watch out!”

In a heartbeat, Ivy shouted and shoved her hard.

The push sent Emmy stumbling backward. She tumbled into a patch of holly bushes, the leaves cushioning her fall.

But after hitting Ivy, the car shot down a side road and disappeared.

“Doctor! Somebody get a doctor!”

One bodyguard gave up the chase, spun back, dropped to his knees beside Ivy, and started shouting for help.

The other memorized the license plate and pulled out his phone to call the police.

Doctors and nurses were already rushing out of the hospital, pushing a stretcher.

Teresa’s legs gave out and she nearly collapsed, pointing shakily toward the bushes. Her voice trembled. “Marian, hurry. Go check on Emmy.”

“Miss!”

Marian snapped out of her daze and ran over, grabbing Emmy and helping her out of the bushes.

“Miss, are you okay? Please, talk to me. Miss!”
