Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 654

A wave of anxiety hit her. She hurried off to find Marian.

“Marian, where did Ivy’s things go?”

Marian looked a little surprised, then said, “Oh, Ivy’s family came a couple of days ago and took everything.”

Emmy’s heart sank. “Everything? What about my scarf… They didn’t take that too, right?”

Marian smacked her own leg, suddenly realizing, “Oh no! I didn’t even think about it.”

“Ivy’s son came to pack up. Everything she had was in that room. I think he… I think he took all of it.”

“He mentioned he was heading back to his hometown for the holiday, so he just moved her things on his way. Said it’d save us the trouble next time.”

Emmy let out a helpless sigh.

Looked like she’d have to wait until after the holidays and ask someone to pick up the scarf from the countryside.

Even when she was lying in bed that night, Emmy couldn’t stop thinking about it. She kept sighing, full of regret.

James walked out of the bathroom and saw her puffing out her cheeks, looking grumpy.

He couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong? Hungry again?”

She’d been getting hungry much faster these days, and the doctor had told her to eat smaller meals more often.

Emmy gave him a tired look and mumbled, “Headache.”

James immediately looked worried. He crossed the room in a few strides and pressed his palm to her forehead.

“Where does it hurt? Did you catch a cold?”

His anxious face made her laugh. She pulled his hand down and scratched his palm with her finger.

“It’s not a real headache.”

She looked completely serious as she explained, “But it is a headache.”

James just stared at her, lost for words.

He couldn’t decide if he should laugh or sigh at her odd logic.

Pregnancy really was a strange thing.

Hormones, even stranger.

By the middle of the night, Emmy was fast asleep.

But James couldn’t sleep at all. He lay on his side, watching the woman in his arms. The soft glow from the window lit her face. He listened to her steady breathing, felt her warmth, and sensed the tiny heartbeats in her belly that belonged to both of them.

On New Year’s morning, just as the sky began to lighten, Emmy dragged James out of bed.

They both carried big bags filled with gifts and drove to Dominic’s place to pay their respects.

They were the first to arrive, and the house was still quiet.

Soon after, Nico showed up, still single, still full of his usual laid-back swagger.

As soon as he spotted James, his eyes lit up, and he slung an arm around his shoulders.

“Hey, brother-in-law, can I ask you something?”

James gave him a side glance and stayed silent.

Nico grinned. “Can we take a picture together? I want to show it off at work and freak out the girls. You and Mr. Nelson look so much alike, nobody would know the difference.”

James looked at him and shook his head. “Can’t. Job’s confidential. No photos.”

Nico clicked his tongue, looking completely disappointed.

One by one, the other guys started arriving with their families.

The whole house soon filled with laughter and lively conversation.
