Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 656

After lunch, Emmy finally found a moment to talk with Krystina alone.

“I don’t get it,” Emmy said, lowering her voice. “You texted this morning that you were already on the way. Why’d it take you so long to get here?”

Krystina’s face changed instantly. She looked tired, embarrassed, and for a second, she couldn’t meet Emmy’s eyes. She glanced around at all the couples in the living room, then gave a wry little smile.

“My husband and I had a fight. He dumped me and Ollie on the side of the highway and just drove off.”

Emmy’s jaw dropped. “Are you serious? That’s so dangerous! What did you—”

Krystina cut her off, shaking her head. “Emmy, I didn’t want to drag you into my drama, but this time he really went too far.”

“I’m not going back. I don’t want to see his family, either. I’m thinking I’ll stay in the Capital for a while, maybe work on some business stuff.”

She looked at Emmy, a little hopeful. “Will you let me crash with you?”

Emmy squeezed her hand. “Of course. I’m staying at my mom’s place right now. There’s plenty of space, you can stay as long as you want.”

Krystina hesitated, looking a bit awkward. “So… I heard you’re working on one of those rural development projects?”

Emmy nodded. “Yeah, why?”

Krystina took a deep breath, like she was working up her courage. “The government’s really pushing those projects this year, and security is a big deal. I was wondering if… you’d consider my company for your cybersecurity needs.”

She hurried to add, “Don’t worry, I’ll follow all the rules and bid like everyone else. I’m not asking for special treatment. I just hope you’ll keep us in mind as a candidate.”

Emmy stared at her for a second, then burst out laughing.

“Krystina, come on. I was already planning to come find you after the holidays to talk about working together. Your company’s the best in Riverdale, and honestly, there aren’t many in the Capital that can match you.”

“I was worried you’d be too busy for me, and here you are asking first.”

Krystina blinked, surprised. Then both women grinned at each other. No words needed.

“It’s settled then,” Emmy said. “Once the break’s over, I’ll set up a meeting with my project partner, and we’ll all talk it through.”

“Did the samples come out okay?” Emmy asked.

“They did. The first batch passed all the quality checks, and the equipment at the base is ready to go.”

“We’re holding the ribbon-cutting ceremony in three days. All the big city and district officials will be there.”

Sylvia’s voice turned serious.

“Ms. Eincoln, we really need you there in person.”

“You’ve been the heart of this project from the very start. The officials are paying attention, not just because of the government support, but because of your reputation in AI.”

Emmy paused, one hand resting on her belly, feeling the quiet comfort of the twins growing inside her. After a moment, she nodded.

“Alright, I’ll be there.”

“And while you’re at it, I want to introduce you to a new partner. I think you’ll want to meet them.”
