Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 672

“Mr. Nelson, good morning.”

“Good morning, Ms. Eincoln. I hope I’m not interrupting you.”

“Not at all. Is there something you need, Mr. Nelson?”

Tyler’s voice was easy and warm. “Actually, yes. My father is really interested in your rural development project, and he’d like to talk more about working together.”

Emmy’s heart skipped a beat. She hadn’t expected news like this at all.

“Really? That’s amazing!”

“It is. My father thinks the sooner, the better. Are you free this afternoon at three? Pearl Hospital.”

“Yes, of course!” Emmy agreed right away. “I’ll be there on time.”

“Great. See you then.”

As soon as the call ended, Emmy’s smile just wouldn’t go away.

This was such fantastic news.

She dialed Danny without hesitation. “Aidan, I need you to pull together all the documents for the rural project right now. You’re coming with me to Pearl Hospital at two thirty.”

Once work was sorted, Emmy turned her attention back to the scarf.

She searched for crochet tutorials on her phone, especially ones on stitching letters, and even asked Marian to teach her in person.

She spent the whole morning on it, poking her fingers red more than once, but she finally finished.

In one corner of the scarf, two wobbly letters sat side by side.

E and J.

And in between, she’d crocheted a tiny red heart.

It looked a little silly, but the more Emmy stared at her handiwork, the prouder she felt.

She couldn’t help picturing James’s reaction when he opened the gift.

He’d see this one-of-a-kind scarf, filled with all her care and effort, and he’d… well, he’d be really touched, wouldn’t he?

...

Meanwhile, in the heart of the city, just east of the Forbidden City, stood the Nelson family’s ancestral compound. The ancient gray brick buildings with sweeping roofs and ornate eaves took up a whole block, quietly showing off the family’s wealth and influence in the most expensive part of town.

After being gone all through the holidays, Jared Nelson, the head of the family, had returned yesterday, finally bringing some life back to the usually quiet estate.

But after breakfast, Jared had already left for work.

In the master bedroom, Mrs. Shelly Nelson had just slipped into a custom silk dress embroidered by hand, getting ready for a ladies’ tea party.

Her personal maid hurried in, holding a thick brown envelope.

“Ma’am, someone just left this at the gate. It’s marked for your eyes only.”

Of their two sons, one was deep and withdrawn, always in a wheelchair. The other was so rebellious he barely came home. Neither one was close to their father.

Shelly’s position seemed stable, but she knew it wasn’t as solid as it looked.

Now, the evidence was right in front of her, impossible to ignore.

Her hand shook as she slammed the photos down on the redwood table.

“Find out who this woman is. I want everything on her.”

“Yes, ma’am!” The maid nearly tripped over herself racing out.

“Wait!” Shelly called her back.

She closed her eyes, forcing herself to breathe.

With the way her husband operated, even if she found out, what could she actually do?

Anyone he wanted to protect, she couldn’t get near.

Shelly opened her eyes again, cold determination glinting in them.

“Find out his recent schedule. Every single thing.”

She wanted to see exactly when he’d go to meet this little fox.

And when she caught him in the act, she’d see just how far he’d go to shield that woman and the child she carried.
