The woman, her face smeared with yellow-green goop, wiped herself off and glared at Emmy with even more venom. She actually looked like she was about to lunge at Emmy again.
“Don’t you dare touch her!” Tyler yelled, his voice cutting through the chaos.
But Micah was already moving. In a flash, he jumped in front of Emmy, grabbed the woman’s wrist, and just like that, the two of them were locked in a fight.
The woman wasn’t just angry, she was dangerous. Her moves were sharp, fast, and vicious. But Micah was a pro. Emmy had hired him for a reason, and even now, he was all speed and precision. In seconds, they’d exchanged several blows, the whole showdown barely lasting longer than a heartbeat.
Jared’s patience snapped. He slammed his palm on the table, the sound echoing through the room. “Get out. Now.”
He almost never lost his temper like this. Even Shelly was stunned, though her glare only grew colder.
The fighting woman froze for a split second at Jared’s roar, her instincts telling her to back off.
But Micah’s eyes darted to Emmy’s cheek, where a red, swollen handprint was starting to show. His expression turned icy. Instead of letting up, he caught the woman off guard and drove his fist hard into her stomach.
She let out a muffled gasp, doubled over, and dropped to the floor, unable to get back up.
A group of bodyguards rushed in, hauling both the breathless Micah and the woman out of the room.
Silence fell.
Shelly finally turned to Jared, lifted a finger and jabbed it at Emmy. Her voice was cutting. “So this is the mistress you’ve been hiding, isn’t it?”
“No wonder,” she sneered. “Now it all makes sense. Suddenly you’re so into doing charity work in the countryside, you even skipped the New Year’s dinner with the family. Turns out it was all just an excuse. You were hiding this little vixen out there, weren’t you?”
Jared couldn’t believe what he was hearing. His temples throbbed as he struggled to keep his composure. “Shelly. Apologize to Ms. Eincoln. Right now.”
Tyler just stood there, completely shell-shocked.
This was a disaster. Everything was spiraling out of control.
In a panic, he fished out his phone and fired off a message to James.
He was every bit the head of the family in that moment, his authority filling the room and instantly silencing Shelly.
He stared at his wife, his eyes full of exhaustion and disappointment.
“Look carefully. This is Ms. Emmy Eincoln, director of Starlight Corporation.”
“She has her own family. Shelly, you’re being completely unreasonable.”
Shelly’s mind went blank at those words. Director of Starlight Corporation? She has a family? Then whose baby was—
Before she could process any of it, the door burst open with a thunderous slam.
A man in an orange uniform stormed in, fury radiating from every inch of him. His strikingly handsome face was frozen, his dark eyes swirling with a cold rage that made everyone in the room shiver.
Even Emmy felt her heart skip a beat at the intensity in his eyes.
