Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 687

Tyler watched his brother walk away, his eyes growing serious.

They were supposed to be talking business, but it was obvious his mind had already wandered to his wife and kids.

He liked to pretend he was all about self-control, but honestly, who was he fooling? If that wasn’t love, Tyler didn’t know what was.

The second James stepped into the restroom, he pulled out his phone and called Emmy.

His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might burst right out of his chest.

The first ring echoed in his ear, stretching out longer than he thought possible.

He could hardly wait to tell her that he knew everything now.

He wanted to tell her their kids were the best thing that had ever happened to him.

But before he could say a word…

Beep.

She hung up.

James clenched his jaw, his face tight with frustration and regret.

He squeezed his phone, the muscles in his hand standing out as he tried to hold himself together.

If only he’d known things would turn out like this.

He would have confessed everything the first time she’d asked, the first time she’d looked at him and wondered if he was keeping secrets.

He never should have tried to cover one lie with another.

He took a long, shaky breath, his chest so tight it hurt.

Opening up their chat, he stared at the screen for a minute, then typed out a message letter by letter.

[Honey, no matter how angry you are, no matter how much you yell at me, I’ll take it.]

[But you have to believe me, I love you and I love our two kids.]

He hit send.

In her hotel suite, Emmy was pacing, her head throbbing with a nasty toothache that made everything worse.

Her phone lit up on the table. She glanced at the messages, but didn’t bother opening them.

Before anyone could say more, the Drennon family’s old butler entered, leading a man inside.

This guy looked like he was in his forties or fifties, and he carried himself with a kind of quiet authority that made people pay attention.

He wore a dark green, traditional style shirt with matching pants and perfectly polished dress shoes.

He might have been dressed as a butler, but the respect he commanded filled the room in an instant.

People who had been sitting jumped to their feet, holding their breath without even realizing it.

Teresa’s heart skipped a beat, but she quickly gathered herself and stepped forward, her voice polite.

“May I ask who you are?”

The man nodded, his tone formal but distant.

“Mrs. Drennon, nice to meet you. I’m the head butler of the Nelson family estate.”

He took an exquisitely embossed gold invitation from his assistant and handed it to Teresa with both hands.

“My mistress is hosting a tea party at the Nelson Estate today. She specifically asked me to invite you to join her.”

The whole room seemed to freeze as everyone processed his words. The only sound was the collective gasp as people tried to catch their breath.
