Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 714

Emmy sat quietly, listening, not saying a word in her own defense.

“I get it,” she finally said. “But I need some time to sort everything out in my head.”

“I can’t spend my whole life hiding behind James, just waiting for him to protect me.”

“If the Nelson family only wants my child and not me, then I have to start thinking about my baby first.”

“This isn’t just between me and James anymore. Now it’s between me and the entire Nelson family.”

She turned to Abriella, her eyes sincere.

“I finally understand what my mom always used to say.”

“Falling in love is about two people. But marriage... that’s about two families.”

“If I can’t even handle the Nelson family, there’s no way James and I will last.”

Abriella’s heart was pounding, her palms sweaty as she listened. But when Emmy finished speaking, Abriella’s eyes suddenly sparkled.

“So... you’re actually thinking about a real future with James?”

Emmy was caught off guard by her excitement, looking away with a shy little smile. She was quiet for a moment, searching for the right words.

When she spoke again, her voice was steady and clear, almost wise beyond her years.

“Why waste all my energy getting to know a new person, taking a chance on some uncertain future, or risking ending up alone?”

“I’d rather accept the person I already know, flaws and all. Work through our issues together and really try to make it work.”

“That’s beautiful!” Abriella almost bounced off the bed, her phone halfway out already. “I have to tell James what you just said!”

Emmy caught her hand, fast. “And you call yourself trustworthy?”

“I’m telling you this, not so you can run off and report to him.”

She narrowed her eyes, giving her best friend a playful but serious look. “So, whose side are you really on?”

Abriella hugged Emmy’s arm tight, nuzzling her head on her shoulder.

“Yours, always yours!”

She blinked, her voice suddenly careful. “But... does this mean you’ve forgiven James?”

Emmy let out a little huff. “I never said that.”

Emmy shook her head slowly.

In her previous life, the woman who stood beside Jared on the world stage as the “First Lady” wasn’t Mrs. Nelson. It was someone else. Someone legendary.

That woman spoke eight languages, never needed an interpreter at any event, and could close impossible deals on Jared’s behalf.

She was bold, sharp, and so commanding that even Jared would step back for her.

Emmy could still remember a news story that made headlines everywhere. Jared’s convoy was ambushed in the Middle East, and when all the bodyguards were down, it was that woman who picked up a gun herself, took out every single enemy, and dragged a bloody Jared back from death.

Now that was a woman worthy of the title “First Lady.”

Mrs. Nelson was just a pretty bird kept in a gilded cage, all show, no substance.

If Emmy wanted to stop the Nelson family from pushing her around, maybe she needed to start with the real First Lady.

Emmy blinked out of her thoughts and glanced at Abriella, who looked ready for gossip.

“I can’t say for sure that he’s cheating, but I trust a woman’s instincts.”

“Why would Mrs. Nelson suddenly be so sure Jared has someone else? If it was that easy to convince her, it probably means she already suspected it deep down.”
