Emmy lay on the bed, her skin almost ghostly pale. She stared at him, her eyes colder than ice.

“Dean, you can kidnap me all you want, but you’ll never have my heart,” she said, her voice flat and unforgiving. “I’ll never forgive you. Not ever.”

“I know,” Dean answered, smiling like none of this fazed him. There was no doubt or fear in his eyes, only that same stubborn obsession. He reached out, trying to touch her cheek, but Emmy jerked away, disgusted. His hand hung awkwardly in the air before he let it drop, pretending not to care.

“So…” he started, his voice barely above a whisper, smooth and dangerous, “let’s just forget about everything that went wrong, all the hurt. Can we do that?”

Emmy let out a sharp laugh and turned her face to the wall, done looking at him. She didn’t want to say another word to this lunatic. Her mind was already racing, trying to figure out how she’d get in touch with James once the plane landed.
