Wilma quickly whipped up a cup of hot ginger tea, and Quintessa cradled it gently, sipping slowly. With every gulp, warmth spread through her stomach and gradually, heat enveloped her body.
Tyrone came down the stairs, noticed he was left out, and asked, “Mom, what about me?”
Mrs. York quizzed, “What about you?”
Tyrone gestured towards Quintessa’s ginger tea, “Don’t I get any?”
Mrs. York blinked, “Ginger tea… it’s for the girls to ward off the chill, you want some too?”
Tyrone almost choked, “Mom, am I not your son?”
He and Quintessa had come back soaked from the rain, and Quintessa was even wearing his jacket. Logically, he should be the coldest, yet there was nothing prepared for him.
Mrs. York sighed deeply, “I sometimes wish you weren’t, but reality is harsh!”
Tyrone clasped his forehead, suddenly at a loss for words.
Yep, that’s my mom for you.
Realizing she might have been a bit too harsh on her son, Mrs. York thought for a moment and then said, “If Quinn leaves a couple of sips, you can have it.”
Tyrone turned away, speechless!
...
That evening, after dinner, Quintessa stayed with Mrs. York to watch a soap opera at 8 PM.
Quintessa couldn't keep her eyes open for long. These past few days, she hadn’t been resting well. As soon as she relaxed, sleepiness overcame her quickly.
Mrs. York urged her to go upstairs to bed.
