Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert) novel Chapter 460

The sudden kiss left Sylvia too stunned to fight back.

It wasn’t until Rupert deepened the kiss that her senses snapped back. She didn’t care that her hands were still covered in soapy bubbles—she raised a fist and swung.

But, infuriatingly, Rupert was always a step ahead. Before her hand could land, his fingers wrapped around her wrist and pinned her arm behind her.

It forced her body closer, pressing her right up against his chest.

She glared up at him, meeting his gaze.

His eyelids were half-lowered, his eyes dark and unreadable, his lips harsh but tinged with longing.

Rupert paused. He lifted her chin, forcing her to face him.

Their eyes locked. His lips curled in a cold, mocking smile.

“So what? You being here changes nothing.”

“…”

Sylvia’s face had gone so pale she looked almost transparent. The soap suds dried on her hands, leaving her palms dry and sore.

She pressed her lips together, searching his face, and finally asked what had haunted her for so long: “Why did you go to Norway to save me? And before that, why did you come for me at the mining camp? Did you rescue me just…”
