Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 433

Emma raised an eyebrow.

"It is!" Sebastian insisted with a nervous smile. "Whenever my dad isn't busy, he cooks for my mom. I learned everything from him!"

He was, in a way, following in his father's footsteps.

Emma hadn't expected that. She didn't believe cooking was exclusively a woman's job, but in a wealthy family like Sebastian's, she assumed they would have countless maids and perhaps even a private chef. The idea of his busy father still making time to cook for his mother was surprising.

She was a firm believer that parents shaped their children through daily example. Her own parents' temperaments had produced someone like Jonathan, which wasn't surprising at all. But parents like Sebastian's… she wasn't sure how to describe the result, other than to say it was someone like Sebastian.

Both being dancers, their diets were relatively simple. Last night had been a splurge, so this morning they kept it light. Afterward, Sebastian accompanied her to the wellness center.

The snow had stopped overnight, but the temperature was frigid. Emma bundled up tightly, but when she saw the state of her front yard, she sighed.

It was a sheet of ice.

"Emma, wait! It's really slippery! I'm coming!" Sebastian, who had just run home to shower and change, saw her come out and rushed over, worried she would fall.

He hopped the fence as usual and hurried to her side, offering his arm for support.

But the ground was treacherous. Emma's leg was still weak, and after only two steps, she slipped, nearly pulling him down with her.

Sebastian quickly wrapped his arms around her, planting his feet firmly until they were both steady.

"Emma, I'm going to have to carry you. Is that okay?" he asked. It was the only way. Their houses, though detached, were on a street too narrow for cars to pull into the driveways.
