He had seen the snowman in the neighbor's garden and wanted his Emma to have one too.
Even if, he knew, she might not be his Emma anymore.
He watched from a distance, waiting to see her reaction. Even if she didn't want to talk to him, surely the snowman would bring a small smile to her face?
But not only did she throw away his card, that infuriating Remington guy started pouring hot water on it.
One kettle wasn't enough; he brought out another, and then another. What was he doing?
When the snowman's head began to melt, Theodore couldn't stand it anymore. He got out of his car and stormed over.
"You! Remington! What do you think you're doing?" His clothes were still stained with the slush Sebastian had splashed on him earlier, and now they were soaked through from building the snowman. He looked a mess.
Sebastian smirked. "Can't you see? The path is icy. I'm clearing away the trash so Emmie doesn't slip and fall."
He would never dare call her Emmie to her face, but in front of her ex-husband, he felt the need to assert himself.
Theodore was furious. "What did you just call trash?" This snowman was his gift to Emma!
"This!" Sebastian said, dumping another kettle of steaming water onto the snowman.
"You… you stop that right now!" Theodore lunged for the kettle.
Sebastian held it back, and the two of them began to scuffle in the yard.
The icy ground gave Sebastian, a dancer with impeccable balance, a distinct advantage. After a few clumsy attempts to grapple, Theodore lost his footing. Sebastian easily tackled him to the ground and started raining punches down on his face.
