Chapter 13 The Wrong Door
The drunk stumbled out in embarrassment. Once he was outside the club, he slapped his head. “Could it be the fake daughter of the Lowell family? No, that doesn’t make sense. Why would Mr. Shawn help a fake?”
Inside, Shawn extended a hand toward Tatiana. “You okay? Can you

stand?”
Shawn smiled with exaggerated kindness. “Don’t be so tense. I’m not here to hurt you. Jasper sent me to help.”
Jasper?
Would he… really help her?
Questions swirled in her mind, hesitation filling her eyes.
Shawn pressed further. “If it wasn’t Jasper’s idea, do you think I’d bother? If you don’t leave

now.
His gaze dropped meaningfully.
Flushing, she clutched her chest tighter, clothes growing more transparent by the second. She scrambled to her feet and followed him..
Shawn led her into a room and poured a glass of warm water, handing it over. “Rest here for a bit. Change into some dry clothes.”
She shook her head, still on guard, refusing to take the cup.
Shawn didn’t mind. He set it aside casually and had someone bring a clean outfit.
“Fine, then. Just change. I’m leaving.”
Once he was gone, Tatiana immediately locked the door and slipped into the bathroom.
The sound of running water filled the room, steam fogging up the frosted glass, casting a hazy outline of her figure.
Outside, Shawn’s smile twisted. “Tatiana, Tatiana… blame yourself for getting in Bianca’s way. This is Jasper’s will–enjoy it.”
Humming, he walked off.
Meanwhile, Jasper stayed with Bianca until she drifted off to sleep. Only then did he rise to leave.
But the moment he moved, Bianca jolted awake. In a panic, she rushed forward and hugged him tightly from behind.
“Jasper, don’t go. I just had a nightmare–everything was on fire, so hot, I almost burned alive. I was terrified.”
He turned, gently smoothing her hair, his voice low and calming. “It was only a dream. It’s over now. Don’t be afraid.”
“Jasper, you won’t leave me, right?”
“Mm.”
Jasper, I’m thirsty.”
He naturally poured her a glass of water and handed it over.
She pouted, pushing it back with a playful smile. “I tricked you. I saw your lips were cracked. You never drink water, do you? Hurry and drink this!”
Jasper froze, eyes clouding with a flicker of déjà vu.
“Jasper! You have to drink water, it’s good for your stomach. The doctor said so, and I’ll make sure you listen. If you don’t, I’ll nag you nonstop, right in your ear, until you’re sick of me–and
still won’t be able to get rid of me, hmph!”

He had long lived buried in work, his irregular habits giving him chronic stomach trouble. Somehow, Tatiana had learned that honey water soothed the pain.
From then on she hovered like a ghost, endlessly hounding him to drink.
As the Lowell family’s eldest daughter, no one dared stop her. He had despised her nagging, her petty ways of asserting her presence.
Yet, to silence her, he had indeed drunk plenty of honey water. Over time, his flare–ups grew fewer and less severe.
“Jasper? What’s wrong? My arm’s getting tired holding this cup.”
He blinked, forcing the memories down, and took the glass. “Thank you.”
“Drink up!”
He obediently drank half.
Bianca, beaming, took it back and lifted it to her lips. “I’m thirsty too.”
Finished
But he instinctively snatched it away. “I’ll pour you a fresh one.” He turned to refill the glass.
Bianca’s expression nearly twisted.
Was he… disgusted by her?
A swell of resentment filled her chest.
In a faintly pitiful tone, she said, “Jasper, will you stay with me a little longer?”
Jasper sighed. “Alright, I won’t leave. I just need to step out to make a call. I’ll be right back.”
“How long?” she blurted, then quickly added, “I’m just… scared to be alone.”
“Not long. It’s business from the company.”
