Even in Darkness She Chose to Rise (Tatiana and Jasper) novel Chapter 142

Chapter 142: The Unveiling of a Deception

The doctor remained silent, merely instructing her to lie down and stay perfectly still.

A wave of dread washed over her, tightening its grip with every passing second.

“No, you’re not going to take my baby from me!” she cried out, desperation thick in her voice.

“Please, calm down and don’t move. Trust us to handle this,” the doctor urged gently.

“Step aside! I won’t go in there! Let me go!” she shouted, struggling fiercely against the nurses.

Despite her fierce resistance, she was too weak to break free; every attempt to move drained the last of her strength. Several nurses pinned her firmly to the bed, their grip unyielding. “Stay still! Your condition is critical!” they warned.

“Contact… cough, cough… Jasper… please…” she gasped, her voice barely audible between bouts of coughing.

For the sake of her unborn child, she was ready to reveal the truth to him.

“This is what Mr. Jasper wants,” she whispered, her voice trembling.

Her body froze, eyes blazing red with a mix of fear and determination. She bit down hard on her lower lip, fighting back tears. “No! I have to see him!”

Meanwhile, far away in the mountain cabin, Jasper was suddenly seized by a sharp pang in his chest, his heartbeat erratic. Just as he turned, Bianca slipped her arms around him from behind.

“Jasper, do you love me?” she asked softly, her voice tinged with vulnerability.

He frowned, discomfort flickering across his face. “Bianca, don’t ask me things like that.”

“You don’t love me, do you?” she pressed, her voice lowering with hurt. “You only married me because of your promises and duties. You don’t love me.”

Bianca muttered under her breath, then suddenly raised her voice, almost accusingly, “Then who do you love? Tatiana? Have you fallen for her?”

An unexplainable irritation stirred within him. He pulled his hand free from hers, turned to face her, and said firmly, “I don’t have those feelings for anyone.”

“But you’ve changed,” she whispered, eyes searching his face.

Once, Bianca had believed Jasper was a man immune to love—a king born to command and control, never to be bound by anyone. She had manipulated him through his guilt, bending him to her will.

But now, something was different.

His gaze no longer held that distant coldness; it was focused, intent.

And that focus was not on her.

Bianca struggled to accept this painful truth.

“Jasper, please, want me. I long for a home—with you and our child. I will be a good mother, and you will be a good father. We can be happy together,” she pleaded, lifting her tear-streaked face, eyes shimmering with raw emotion.

The tension in the room thickened, the air charged with unspoken feelings. With anyone else, this moment might have led to something more.

Jasper was silent for a heartbeat, then slowly leaned closer.

Bianca’s heart hammered wildly. Her breath hitched, and she instinctively closed her eyes, tilting her face upward, waiting for his kiss.

But instead of warmth, his breath brushed coldly against her ear, and his words cut through the silence like a blade.

“Bianca, do you remember four years ago when I was injured, sick, and blind? You made me a bowl of noodles. Do you remember that?”

Her face froze instantly. She snapped her eyes open to meet his dark, icy stare—an abyss that threatened to swallow her whole.
