**TITLE: Even the Night Couldn’t Silence Her Light**
**Chapter 163: Two Debts**
Everything about the situation felt shrouded in suspicion.
Jasper meticulously followed the trail of messages, each one weighing heavily on his heart. The realization struck him like a thunderclap—he had never fathomed that she had been living under a constant, looming threat.
And yet, the shadowy figure behind the threat remained elusive, slipping through his fingers like smoke.
Felix stood off to the side, his heart racing in his chest, a palpable fear coursing through him. He hesitated, then voiced a thought that had been gnawing at him. “Boss, Ms. Tatiana’s face… could it also be because…” His voice trailed off, the words hanging in the air, unspoken yet painfully clear.
With a sudden, violent motion, Jasper crushed the glass in his hand, the shards biting into his palm as his expression twisted in anguish. “Keep digging. I want to know who this is,” he commanded, his voice low and dangerous.
It was becoming increasingly apparent that Tatiana’s coma was directly linked to something terrible that had happened to Jaime.
If they couldn’t locate Jaime, what other means did they have to pull her back from the depths of unconsciousness?
They found themselves at a frustrating impasse.
Jasper settled into the chair beside her hospital bed, his gaze fixed on her serene, sleeping face. His eyes felt heavy, like storm clouds ready to unleash a deluge.
With a tentative hand, he reached out, his fingers brushing against her cheek, tracing the outline of her uneven scar. A sharp pain lanced through his chest, a visceral reaction to the hurt she had endured.
After a long moment of silence, he sighed, the sound heavy with emotion.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
She had been under threat, unable to defend herself, so why hadn’t she confided in him?
If only she had been willing to reach out, to ask for his help, he would have moved mountains for her.
And it wouldn’t have come to this…
He pressed his lips into a thin line, withdrawing his hand as if burned.
“Knock, knock.”
Felix’s voice broke through the tension, his breath coming in quick, anxious bursts. “Boss, bad news. Mr. Gordon is here.”
They hadn’t managed to shield Gordon from the truth after all. The reality was out, and Gordon was on his way, seething with fury, a storm that no one could hope to quell.
Jasper stood at the threshold of the hospital room, bracing himself for the confrontation. As Gordon entered, before Jasper could utter a word, the cane came crashing down upon him.
The blow landed with full force, a brutal strike that sent shockwaves through his body.
Jasper’s face contorted in pain; the cane struck directly against the unhealed whip marks on his back, reopening wounds that had barely begun to heal. The agony was compounded by the broken ribs that throbbed with every breath he took.
Even Felix gasped, unable to fathom the pain Jasper must be enduring.
“You ungrateful brat! Did you forget what I told you? I warned you to let her go! And what did you do? You drove her to the brink of suicide! Cough, cough…”
Gordon’s rage manifested in a violent fit of coughing, each spasm a testament to his fury.
The butler stepped forward to assist him but was roughly pushed aside.
“Get off me! I’ll beat this unfilial wretch to death!”
With his cane raised high, Gordon prepared to strike again, but just as the blow was about to land, his vision blurred, darkness creeping in, and he nearly collapsed.
In an instant, Jasper reacted, lunging forward to catch his grandfather as he fell, desperation fueling his movements.
“Get a doctor!” he shouted, urgency lacing his voice.
Everyone scrambled into action, rushing to ensure Gordon received emergency care. The intensity of his anger had nearly overwhelmed him, pushing him to the brink of unconsciousness.
