**TITLE: Even the Night Couldn’t Silence Her Light**
**Chapter 173: Fool**
It was all a performance, a façade that concealed the truth beneath layers of deception.
As this realization dawned upon him, the darkness in Jasper’s eyes morphed into a storm, swirling with uncontrollable fury. It was as if a volcano was brewing within him, ready to erupt at any moment.
He lifted his gaze, his expression a blank canvas, and uttered the words with deliberate slowness, “Activate the tracker.”
Felix stood there, bewildered, his mind racing. What tracker? The question echoed in his thoughts, but before he could voice it, the grim reality unfolded before him.
His boss had crossed a line he never thought possible. He had implanted a micro-tracker inside Tatiana. How could he even consider such a thing? Was he truly human, or had madness consumed him entirely?
Before long, a small red dot flickered to life on a large screen, pulsating ominously. They watched as it moved, guiding them to a secluded lake.
Jasper advanced with purpose, his face shadowed by a darkness that seemed to seep from his very being. Each step felt heavy as he approached the figure huddled within the embrace of a tree hollow, her back turned to him.
Unbeknownst to anyone around him, Jasper clutched a pair of exquisite handcuffs tightly behind his back. This time, he had no intention of granting her any kind of freedom.
With each stride, he drew closer, until he was merely three feet away. The air around him felt thick with tension.
“Tatiana,” he called, his voice soft yet firm.
The figure before him froze, her body suddenly rigid.
“I’m here. Turn around,” he urged gently.
Slowly, she turned to face him, and in an instant, she sprang forward, launching herself into his arms.
“Jasper!!” she cried, her voice a piercing wail that shattered the stillness of the night. Tatiana clung to him desperately, her face a chaotic mix of tears and snot, her sobs echoing with sheer hysteria.
“Jasper! You came! I was so scared! I… I couldn’t find you! There were so many people… they pushed me away… they called me an idiot… I was so scared…” Her words tumbled out in a frantic rush, her terror palpable.
Jasper remained silent, but doubt gnawed at him.
As he tightened his grip on the handcuffs, preparing to secure them around her wrist, something shifted. In a sudden burst of clarity, she pushed him away, her eyes wide with urgency. She reached into her pocket, pulling out a small clump of grass.
Her tear-streaked face transformed as a radiant smile broke through the despair. “Jasper, look! I found it!” she exclaimed, holding out the tiny treasure.
He froze, his gaze drawn downward.
A four-leaf clover. A delicate little thing.
“I searched for so, so long, and I found it! Jasper, this is for you!” Her eyes sparkled with excitement, as if she had just discovered a hidden gem.
The revelation hit him like a physical blow, a dull ache settling in his chest.
“You… ran off to find this?” he questioned, disbelief lacing his tone.
She nodded vigorously. “Mhm! The book said four-leaf clovers bring good luck! If you find one, you’ll have a good life!”
