She no longer refused; she genuinely did not want to be the center of attention.
“Mommy, is Mr. Jackson here to pick you up?”
Ann was peering down through the window, her eyes sparkling.
“Yes. Ann, be good at home and wait for me to come back.”
“Mommy looks so beautiful today!”
Tatiana smiled, her eyes crinkling, and gently pinched Ann’s little nose. “Thank you for the compliment.”
“Go, Mommy! Drive Mr. Jackson crazy!”
She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
She hugged her child one last time.
Then, she turned and left.
Walking out the door, she looked up and saw the figure standing by the car.
He was wearing a perfectly tailored black suit, his fringe slicked back to expose his full face. His features were deep–set, his brows artistic, his nose high, his thin lips slightly pressed. His jet–black eyes were touched with a faint starlight, smiling as he watched her.
This man was clearly blessed by god! His existence alone is a weapon.
She shifted her gaze, holding the hem of her gown as she walked toward him.
“Have you been waiting long?”
He gave a low, husky laugh. “Yes, very long.”
How long?
So long that the memory is blurred, streaked with static.
She had walked out dressed up like this time and time again, rushing toward him, coming through starlight and moonlight, cutting through thorns.
How could he have lost such a beautiful version of her?
“Snap out of it, what are you thinking about?”
He was thinking so intently.
And his expression was quite terrifying.
Like he was about to devour someone.
She felt a little scared.
“Nothing. Get in the car.”

He reined in the emotions in his eyes and proactively offened the car door. “Please.”
She teased him deliberately. “To have Mr. Jackson acting as my chauffeur, I am flattered.”
He looked down. “If you wish it, it will always be so.”
She pretended not to hear him.
On the way, the two of them discussed topics related to the children, and the atmosphere was relatively peaceful.
Arriving at the banquet, they entered through the side door, successfully avoiding most of the media.
She turned to look at the main entrance: the flashbulbs were popping, blindingly bright. Almost everyone entering was being photographed.
She felt a slight sense of relief.
They walked through a long corridor and pushed the door open. Inside, the scene was one of intersecting lights and shadows.
The ballroom was lavishly luxurious, filled with high–society guests possessing noble temperaments, completely aligning with the antiquated image of the upper class.
Because she was standing with Jasper, the moment they appeared, they instantly drew the majority of
attention.
People looked over subtly or overtly, their gazes intense
The first reaction was, Who is the woman next to Jasper?
The second reaction was, She is too beautiful!
She overshadowed the entire venue!
The socialites attending this banquet had put immense effort into their appearance, meticulously planning every detail. At first glance, every single person was beautiful.
Yet, among so many beautiful people, Tatiana was still the most outstanding one.
She wore a strapless black evening gown that complemented her fair skin, which looked soft enough to break. Her face was exquisite, impossible to fault, like a perfectly crafted model, beautiful beyond the average person’s realm. She wore no particularly eye–catching jewelry, but she herself was a dazzling diamond.
Standing there tall and graceful, she was a true sight to behold.
Dr. Harlow’s creation must be a masterpiece.
She thought once again that she should have strongly ofjected back then.
Fortunately, with Jasper standing right beside her, no one dared to approach and strike up a conversation; they merely whispered, trying to find out who this lady was.
Emily, who was surrounded by a cluster of people, neary bit her tongue in half. Especially when the people
