Chapter 66 The Last Heir
Seeing the woman was about to drown, his desire for an heir overwhelmed him. He immediately ordered his men to drain the tank and pull her out.
She was hauled out, soaking wet, and coughing violently.
Bob’s face was dark. “You’d better not be lying to me!”
“I’m not… lying… cough, cough… I can go to a hospital… get tested… I really am… pregnant.”
To survive, she had no choice but to go along with the lie.
Jasper wouldn’t save her. She could only save herself.
your
Bob grabbed her chin, his voice vicious. “You’d better not be lying. If you are, I’ll make death agonizing.”
To be sure, the naturally suspicious Bob took her to a shady back–alley clinic. The test confirmed it: she
was pregnant.
Bob was half–convinced and immediately began plotting how to protect his heir.
Before, he thought his line was cut off. He had no will to live and just wanted to take everyone down with him. But now… he had a son!
Tatiana saw the glint in his eye, guessed what he was thinking, and said, against her conscience, “The doctor said… it’s very likely… a boy.”
A boy? It was far too early to know the sex.
But Bob believed it.
He didn’t just believe it; he was ecstatic. “I have a son! This is great! I have a son!”
His joy didn’t last long. He suddenly got a call and learned that Jasper was tearing the city apart looking for
Tatiana.
No! If they were found, his son would be gone! He couldn’t let them be taken!
A desperate idea struck him.
Tatiana felt a wave of unease, but she couldn’t fight Bob. She could only pretend to be compliant.
That same night, Jasper used surveillance footage to track them to the warehouse.
But it was already empty,
Other than a few traces, nothing was left.
He stood by the edge of the tank, his face dark, staring at the small amount of water remaining at the
bottom.

One of his men jumped down and retrieved something left behind.
It was a cheap hairpin. One he had seen in Tatiana’s hair.
He stared at the hairpin, his expression dark, like a gathering storm.
“Boss, they haven’t been gone long.”
“Go.”
“Yes, sir!”
But 12 hours had passed since Tatiana’s disappearance. And this tank… The odds were not in her favor.
Jasper spared no expense, dispatching all his men on a city–wide manhunt.
Bob wanted to leave Dalliston immediately, but Jasper’s men were already at every checkpoint, screening all exits. Getting out would be difficult.
On his own, he’d only managed to kidnap Tatiana because she was no longer the protected Miss Lowell. But going up against the Jackson family? He was completely outmatched.
Now, they were hiding in a safe house, afraid to go out.
Bob was frantically calling all his old, useless contacts, trying to find a way out.
But as expected, not one of them was reliable.
Cursing, he smashed everything he could reach, his face a twisted mask of rage.
Tatiana huddled in the corner, sipping quietly at some watery oatmeal, trying to be as invisible as possible.
Her clothes had been changed. Bob had someone buy her new ones, and even provided food and drink. She was being treated like an honored guest.
She knew perfectly well this was all for the baby. She had to keep the truth buried.
“Finished eating? Can’t have my son starving.”
She swallowed the last bite and nodded. “I’m full.”
Bob was satisfied. He reached out and stroked her cheek, his voice sickeningly sweet. “Good girl.”
Tatiana saw the filth in his eyes and felt a wave of nausea. She almost gagged but forced it down, whispering, “The doctor said… the pregnancy is unstable. The first three months… are high–risk for miscarriage. I can’t… have any strenuous activity.”
Bob tensed. “What?! A miscarriage?! Absolutely not! You can die, but my son can’t! You’d better protect
him!”
His other vile intentions evaporated. Nothing in the world was more important than his son.
