Fake Mate Beta Rises to Alpha Heiress (Natalie) novel Chapter 53

**Chapter 53: Networking**

**Leonardo’s POV:**

The abrupt sound of the dial tone reverberated in my ears, leaving me momentarily paralyzed. It was an unfamiliar sensation, a bitter taste in my mouth. This was the first time I had ever been abruptly cut off in the middle of a conversation, and it stung more than I cared to admit.

Was she genuinely overwhelmed with work, or was this just a flimsy excuse to brush me aside?

A wave of irritation washed over me, causing a deep frown to etch itself onto my face. Without a moment’s hesitation, I pressed the intercom button, my fingers dancing over the surface as if they had a mind of their own.

“Mr. Sanchez?” Aaron’s voice crackled through the speaker, sharp and clear.

“I need you to investigate what’s been keeping Ms. Anderson so preoccupied at the Moon-Shadowed Pack,” I instructed, my tone icy and unwavering.

I could almost hear Aaron’s breath hitch on the other end. After years of working together, he was well-acquainted with my usual stoicism, and it was rare for me to express any kind of emotional upheaval, particularly regarding personal matters.

“There haven’t been any significant public events for the Moon-Shadowed Pack recently. Are you inquiring about Ms. Anderson’s situation?” Aaron quickly deduced, his voice tinged with curiosity.

I fell silent, my gaze fixed on the polished surface of my desk, lost in thought.

Realizing he may have overstepped, Aaron quickly added, “We’ve been monitoring Ms. Anderson’s activities. Word is, she’s struggling to assert full control over the Moon-Shadowed Pack and is actively seeking external investment.”

“Investment?” A spark of intrigue flickered in my eyes, igniting a sense of urgency within me.

Aaron proceeded to share the details, revealing that Natalie had been reaching out to various investment firms. Tonight’s meeting was with a company recently acquired by our Sanchez Group, a fact that had yet to be disclosed to the public.

“So, she’s too preoccupied for me because of an investor meeting,” I murmured, my voice barely above a whisper as the realization settled in.

“Mr. Sanchez, do you have any orders for me?” Aaron inquired, his tone shifting to one of anticipation.

“Find out the location of Natalie’s meeting tonight. Cancel a couple of my less important evening appointments,” I replied calmly, my expression returning to its usual composed demeanor, as if I were merely adjusting my work schedule.

**Natalie’s POV:**

Later that evening, I found myself at the lavish Warren Hotel, having indulged in several rounds at the dinner table. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation, yet my stomach felt like a tempest, churning restlessly. I finally bolted to the restroom, my body rebelling as I violently expelled the contents of my stomach, as if trying to rid myself of the evening’s chaos.

Networking was essential for securing investments, but my five subordinates were utterly incapable of handling their liquor. Even if they could, as their leader, I wouldn’t allow them to navigate this treacherous situation alone.
