Landon cooled the seafood soup for me with gentle breaths and then, ever so tenderly, held the spoon up to feed me. As I gazed at his focused side-face, a flicker of hope fluttered in my heart. I clutched his arm, my eyes brimming with tears. “Landon, Natalie’s being such a bully! We all witnessed it. How about we just spill the beans? I’ve had your baby. Your parents can’t turn their backs on their own grandchild, can they?”
I knew it was a long shot, but Natalie’s haughty attitude was like a thorn in my side, and I couldn’t take it anymore.
Sure enough, a pained look clouded his features. Landon looked at me with a mix of compassion and helplessness. “Aaliyah, you’re well aware of my parents’ temperaments. And even if they come around, what about the company? What about the stability of the pack?”
It was always about the company and the pack! Did he really value those cold, hard business interests over me and our pup?
I swatted the spoon away from my mouth, despair lacing my words. “If Natalie gets back into the company, your whole family will be at her mercy. What’s left for me to look forward to?”
“She won’t go that far. Once she’s back at the firm, I’ll smooth things over with her…” Landon tried to placate me, but his

Smooth things over? My heart plummeted, and a chill crept up my spine. “You’re gonna smooth things over with her? What about me?” I stared at him, a sense of alienation washing over me. Ten years! I’d given Landon my all, even severed ties with my own pack. And this was the thanks I got? Him talking about cozying up to another woman right in front of me!
“I’m doing this for the company’s stock market debut!” His patience snapped. Landon plunked the bowl down, irritation lacing his tone. “When the company goes public, as my bonded Omega, you’ll reap the biggest rewards. You’ve got more than Natalie already. Why are you being so difficult now?”
Landon’s POV:
Ugh, I was so fed up! Why couldn’t Aaliyah see things from my perspective? I was stuck between a rock and a hard place with her and Natalie, and she just kept piling on the pressure! The company was about to go public, and there were vultures in the pack waiting for me to slip up. My dad was breathing down my neck. Couldn’t she just get it?
As I watched her push the bowl away and act so obstinately, all my pent-up annoyance boiled

over. I slapped the bowl down and got up to leave.
“Landon!” she called after me, her voice thick with sobs.

“Cool off on your own. Let’s not talk for a while!” I tossed the words over my shoulder and walked out without a backward glance. I needed some headspace, and so did she.
Aaliyah chased me downstairs. However, I fired up the car and left. In the rear-view mirror, her distraught, crying figure shrank into the distance. Her calls had my phone buzzing nonstop, but I was so riled up I muted it.
This was the first time I gave her the cold shoulder. I knew it was cruel, but we both needed some space. After a decade together, the once-unbreakable bond of understanding between us seemed to have developed a crack right at this moment. Everything had turned into a mess ever since Natalie slipped out of my control.
Natalie’s POV:
The following evening, all dressed up to the nines, I showed up early at the pre-reserved rooftop restaurant. The luxurious decoration and the romantic ambiance filled the place with a sugary-sweet atmosphere. It was only then that it hit me: it was Valentine’s Day.
My heart started to race. Inviting Leonardo out on such a special day, would he misunderstand my intentions? A rosy blush spread across my cheeks.
The private room I’d booked offered a breathtaking view. The twinkling lights of the city at night were like a scattered galaxy. As the night wore on, the place was quiet and serene.
Just then, my phone rang at the most inconvenient time-it was Landon. I meant to ignore the call, but I accidentally answered it.
“Natalie?” There was a surprised and delighted tone in his voice, as if he hadn’t expected me to pick up. I guessed he thought I’d calmed down.
“What do you want?” I snapped, irritated by the interruption.
“Today is Valentine’s Day. If you’re not busy, I’ve made a reservation at a restaurant. How about going there with me…” He tried to invite me.
I didn’t respond. Instead, the scene at the mall from the previous day flashed through my mind, and I let out a sneer. “How is Ms. Cooper? She fainted yesterday. She must need someone with her. On a day like this, why don’t you spend it with her?”
My words were laced with sarcasm, but he seemed completely unaware. In a tone he thought was sincere, Landon said, “Natalie, you’re overreacting. What Valentine’s Day with Aaliyah?
