“Hey, when will we sign the share transfer agreement?” I interrupted him before his sickly sweet words could get any more unbearable.
Landon frowned, clearly irritated. “When do you propose?”
“Next Monday. I’ll tell you the exact time after I’ve sorted everything out.” With that, I turned to leave.
However, he blocked my path. “Natalie, what on earth have you been up to recently? I can hardly reach you. Are you sure you’re okay on your own out there? When can you come back home with me?” He still put on that lovesick act, as if he couldn’t survive without me.
I was over the charade. “Can’t I have my own life? Do I have to revolve around you and Thorn Pack? I’m doing just fine alone. Leave me alone if there’s nothing important.”
Landon continued, “Natalie, I know I messed up. I understand you need some space after two years of marriage. But you know I can’t live without you. I’ve missed you so much these days…”
He still thought I was just throwing a fit, spouting that nauseating “I miss you” nonsense.
Just then, there was a stir and gasps inside the store-Aaliyah had passed out!
At the sight of Aaliyah in distress, Landon’s face instantly turned pale. It was an instinctive reaction. He pushed through the crowd and scooped up the pale-faced Aaliyah in his arms.
His voice was filled with genuine panic and concern. “Aaliyah!”
Landon called her name, and without even a glance at me, he carried her and rushed towards the garage, disappearing from my sight, holding her as if she were the most precious thing in the world.
I stared in the direction where they disappeared, my heart as cold and composed as ice. See, this was the so-called mate who claimed he couldn’t live without me. He couldn’t even finish the act before running off to console his lover.
Watching Landon dash out with Aaliyah in his arms without sparing me a single look, I felt a cold sense of absurdity. True feelings couldn’t be faked. After ten years of connection and six years of deception, it was obvious where his heart belonged.
What bad luck running into them today. The lingering smell of their intertwined pheromones

When I got home that evening, I took out the pair of carefully-chosen sapphire cufflinks and admired them under the light. The deep, ocean-blue color was so serene yet mysterious, just like Leonardo. A sense of anticipation welled up within me, and I dialed his number.
“What’s going on?” His voice came through promptly, as steady as always. But maybe it was just my imagination; there seemed to be less coldness in his voice tonight, and a hint of tenderness? A deep, soul-stirring timbre.
“Um, I was just wondering if you’re available for dinner tomorrow, Mr. Sanchez?” I tried to sound as casual as possible.
There was a brief silence on the other end. I could imagine Aaron scrambling to hand him the packed schedule.
“Yeah, I’m available.” His answer was direct, without a hint of hesitation.
“Really?” I was pleasantly surprised. I thought he’d reject me. “Great, I’ll book a restaurant then. It’s my treat. I’ll send you the address later.”
“Sure.” Leonardo’s gentle reply made my heart flutter.
After hanging up, I couldn’t help but smile. Maybe this marriage of convenience wasn’t as cold as I’d assumed.
Leonardo’s POV:
A call from Natalie caught me off guard in a pleasant way. She wanted to take me out for dinner tomorrow and asked if I was up for it.
I took a quick look at the schedule Aaron passed me. Tomorrow was jam-packed with meetings.
But I didn’t hesitate for a second and told her I was available.
Once I hung up, a big smile spread across my face.
“Mr. Sanchez, those appointments tomorrow are important,” Aaron tried to remind me.
“Any special occasion tomorrow?” I brushed off his warning and shot back with a question.
“Tomorrow…” Aaron paused, then whipped out his phone.
“Oh, Mr. Sanchez, it’s Valentine’s Day! Got it. Ms. Anderson wants to spend Valentine’s Day
