Nathan asked, “Are you sure you don’t want to reveal your identity as Li?”
Back then, Lillian had taken a shortcut and named the algorithm she developed using the first two letters of her name, Li.
As a result, everyone now assumed it was a foreign name.
No one ever connected Li to Lillian.
Lillian was quite nonchalant about it. This was better.
“I never went public with it before, and there’s no need to now.”
Nathan suggested, “Then you can just tell people you’re my assistant.”
Lillian agreed. “Fine.”
During her work day, Lillian took some time to visit the hospital.
She really wanted to avoid running into anyone from the Mercer or Blake families.
With Noah hospitalized, she figured only a nanny would be with him at this time.
It would be a lie to say she didn't miss her son.
Before the doctors had ruled that her body couldn't handle another pregnancy, she had been desperately trying to find a way to save Noah.
These past few days, Noah had been constantly on her mind.
Her son's room was next to her grandmother's, and Lillian now had clearance to visit.
As she approached her son's room, she heard voices from inside.
“Noah, sweetie, if your mommy and daddy get a divorce, who will you choose to live with?”
Was that Sabrina's voice?
She had miscalculated. She hadn't considered that Sabrina didn't have a job.
But she never imagined that the woman would be in her son's hospital room, poisoning his mind.
Noah’s reply was instantaneous, without a moment's hesitation. “Daddy, of course. And Auntie Bella can be my new mommy.”
Sabrina cooed, “Oh, Noah, you’re such a good boy. Let Grandma tell you, you made the right choice. Your mother has been to prison. If you lived with her and other children found out, they would look down on you. You don’t want other kids to look down on you, do you?”
That was the last straw. Lillian threw the door open and stormed in.
She spat out the woman’s full name with venom. “Sabrina Ward, you morally bankrupt old homewrecker! What kind of nonsense are you filling my son's head with?”
Sabrina jumped to her feet, startled.
“Lil... Lillian... What... what are you doing here?”
Lillian glared at her, watching her mouth open and close, fighting the urge to tear it apart.
