Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 68

As expected, Old Mrs. Blake, assuming she was one of Lillian's sisters, greeted her with a warm and welcoming attitude.

"Bella, thank you so much for bringing him home."

Bella's smile was exceptionally sweet and beautiful. "It's no trouble at all, Mrs. Blake. Noah is such a well-behaved and lovely child. I adore him, so it could never be a bother."

Noah chimed in at the perfect moment, "Grandma, Auntie Bella takes care of me a lot these days."

Mrs. Blake nodded. "Your Auntie is pretty and kind to you. You're a lucky little charmer."

Lillian's expression had already begun to stiffen.

Just as Lillian felt a pang of loss, Old Mrs. Blake's gaze shifted to her, seizing the opportunity. "Lillian, the child is back now. Why don't you stay and have dinner with two lonely old people?"

Lillian was already feeling incredibly uncomfortable. But it was clear that Old Mrs. Blake was still trying her best to reconcile her and Sebastian.

Sebastian, who was standing right next to Lillian, took her hand. "Mom's right. I'm sure Lillian wants the family to be together too."

Old Mrs. Blake was a firm believer in the old saying that quarrels that start at the head of the bed end at the foot. With a child involved, there was even more reason to bring them together.

So, she smiled at Noah and said, "Noah, go on, convince your mommy to stay for dinner."

Noah looked at Lillian, his eyes filled with reluctance.

One glance was all it took for Lillian to read the expression of the son she had raised. Then, in the next second, Noah snuck a peek at Bella. Bella seemed to give him a subtle nod in response.

Only then did Noah approach Lillian, taking her other hand and shaking it gently. "Mommy, you haven't had dinner with Noah in a long, long time."

Lillian's nose tingled with unshed tears. One hand was held by her husband, the other gently tugged by her son. Hearing his pleading, cajoling voice, she felt as if she were trapped between fire and ice. One side was a raging inferno, threatening to consume her, while the other was a bone-chilling frost, poised to freeze her solid.
