In the study.
Old Mr. Blake's age had increased, but his temper had not diminished.
As soon as Sebastian entered the study, he commanded, "Kneel."
The authority in his tone was absolute and undeniable. Before him, Sebastian obediently knelt.
"It seems you owe me an explanation about your life with Lillian these past two years," Old Mr. Blake said, his voice dangerously low.
Sebastian kept his head down. "Dad, there's nothing wrong between Lillian and me. It's just a small, normal conflict between a husband and wife. Don't all married couples go through this?"
"A conflict that ends in prison, you call that normal? Sebastian, what else have you been hiding from me?"
"Nothing. Dad, everything I do is for the family, for the Blake Group. Lillian is my wife and Noah's mother. It's only right that she makes sacrifices for the company and the family."
Suddenly, Old Mr. Blake erupted. "You fool!" he roared. "Who sends their own wife to prison and calls it a sacrifice for the family? Has the great Blake Group, now in your hands, fallen so low that it requires the new matriarch to be imprisoned just to save it?"
The old man's words were a severe indictment, and Sebastian knew it.
"Dad, it wasn't like that. At the time, I had to make an immediate choice. I couldn't allow a crucial company asset to be compromised. Sending Lillian to prison was the best option."
Old Mr. Blake clutched his chest, his heart aching with fury. He couldn't believe that the man before him was so obstinate.
"You... you... you still don't realize your mistake. What kind of asset is more important than your wife's reputation? More important than the Blake family's reputation? More important than the reputation of the heir's mother? You... you truly are a disgrace. I elevated you to this position, and this is how you repay me? With such profound disappointment."
Sebastian looked up in shock at the old man who, despite his age, still loomed like a mountain of authority. In that moment, his entire world trembled.
He was the product of his father's single mistake, an illegitimate son raised outside the family. From the moment he learned his true identity, he had fought tooth and nail to climb, to finally return to the Blake family, to finally reach its highest seat of power. And now, with a few words, his father had shattered his pride to pieces.
Sebastian was utterly dejected, but then a crazed smile spread across his face. "Yes, I am a disgrace. I'm the illegitimate son you abandoned, a discarded pawn. If your legitimate son hadn't died, it never would have been my turn. I would never have returned to the Blake family, never touched its immense wealth. This bastard son, born without a father to raise him, has given everything, sacrificed everything he could, just to achieve something that would make you proud. I even sent my own wife to prison just to make the company's financial reports look better. Even though the reports were already excellent, I pushed for more, to make them perfect, to satisfy you. And in your eyes, my sacrifice is worth nothing, is it?"
