"You bought a car?"
Leonard saw it the moment she pulled into the driveway of Halfridge Villas.
He was a little surprised. Lillian didn't seem like the type who could handle such a beast of a supercar.
But as she stepped out of the car, she exuded a cool, sharp confidence that was a perfect match for the car.
Lillian shook her head, her short hair swaying with the movement, enhancing her aura.
Leonard couldn't take his eyes off her.
This woman's appearance was incredibly deceiving.
Just when you thought you were looking at a fallen heiress, she would hit you with a surprise that completely shattered your perception.
Lillian said, "Yeah. I used to think my health wasn't good enough for me to drive.
"But after a bad day of job hunting, I ran into Sebastian. We argued, and he told me to get out of his car.
"That's when I realized I've been living a little too timidly lately.
"Wearing plain clothes, keeping the same haircut I got in prison without ever styling it.
"I was so focused on chasing my dreams that I forgot who I used to be."
Leonard replied, "A car can help you find your old self? You should have told me sooner. Whatever car you want, I'll buy it for you."
Lillian said, "I bought it myself. It's ten times more expensive than my first supercar."
Her first car had been a gift from her family, worth a few million. This time, she was using her own money to pamper herself. A ten-million-dollar car, bought on a whim. She didn't care about anyone else's opinions or feelings.
All she knew was that if her time was running out, she should be shining brightly, not living in misery and meekness.
Leonard looked at the woman before him. She had always talked about chasing her dreams, but all she did was stare at a computer screen. Leonard could have helped her with the Mercer and Blake families, but it would have been pointless if Lillian herself wasn't ready to fight back.
Lillian wasn't short on money. The Li Algorithm brought her a never-ending stream of wealth. She was incredibly rich now.
Leonard smiled and suggested, "You've got the car. Now, I think a little style update is in order. I'm very curious about the old Lillian. I wonder if I'll ever get to meet her."
"That might be difficult. When my grandmother was around, she used to say that a girl should have long hair.
"She spared no expense or effort to help me maintain my beautiful long hair.
"Unfortunately, it was all cut off in prison."
As she spoke, she reached up and touched her hair. It was very short.
But she had gotten used to it.
Leonard said, "Wait here. I'll make a call."
He stepped aside and made several phone calls. Before long, a few cars pulled up to the house.
Staff members streamed in, pushing racks of luxury designer clothes in front of Lillian.
The head saleswoman knelt gracefully beside Lillian and handed her a tablet.
