The apron’s bow was tied way too big, dangling behind Tyler’s neck with every move he made.
And that bright yellow duck printed across his chest? It was puffed out thanks to his muscles.
Caroline couldn’t help laughing the moment she saw him. “That…

Next to her, Denton completely lost it. He sat right down on the floor, slapping his thigh and laughing so hard he could barely breathe. “Hahaha! Caroline, that apron was made from a bedsheet! I had to sew it myself because he couldn’t fit into any of the others! And that bow–hahaha! He said his neck itched earlier, so I… ”
Before he could finish, a dark shadow flashed in front of him.
Then he got hit.
Caroline saw the whole thing happen.
Tyler had dropped the kitchen tools the second he sensed trouble, moved like lightning to the corner, and grabbed a pole.
“I think someone’s begging for a beating,” he said coldly.
And that was the end of the apron.
Caroline watched as he tore it off with one hand, his face tense and furious.
But she also noticed something–his face had turned red again.
That was probably the third or fourth time she’d seen him blush.
He always looked so cold and serious, but in truth, he was easy to embarrass.
Caroline saw him go all in when hitting Denton–but it wasn’t brutal. Tyler only hit him on the backside, the kind of spot that hurt a little but didn’t cause real pain.
And even though Denton yelled “Ouch!” over and over, he was clearly laughing. He was obviously used to getting smacked around by Tyler and wasn’t scared at all,
After that round of chaos, they finally settled down. Tyler brought out the last dish, and dinner officially began.
There were lots of dishes, but none too heavy in portion. After eating together so many times, everyone already knew how much the others could handle, so the food on the table was just enough to finish.
No one wasted a bite these days. Even people like Tyler’s group valued every bit of food. If something fell onto the table, they’d pick it right up and eat it.
Caroline noticed Snow sitting quietly beside Tyler. She was surprised–Snow had gotten a lot better behaved lately.
Instead of running around like before, she sat still, waiting patiently for scraps.
Of course, if she got ignored too long, she’d bark a few times to remind everyone she existed.
When Caroline looked closer, she was shocked to see how much Snow had grown. The pup had nearly doubled in size. Her snout

looked sharper now, her tail thicker, and her eyes had a little more edge to them.
Raven stood nearby, looking much calmer. But her eyes were locked on the food like nothing else in the world existed.
Jet had flown inside, too.

While they ate, Caroline noticed Jet shuffling around, inch by inch, trying to get closer to Denton–or rather, closer to Silver.
Silver wasn’t on Denton’s shoulder today. Denton was eating like a man on a mission, and the wild arm movements made it impossible for Silver to stay there comfortably. So she had flown to the nearby couch instead.
Jet slowly crept to the edge of the couch. To him, this was the moment–the “date” he had been waiting days for.
He took a deep breath, flapped his wings once, and hopped onto the couch.
The sudden movement startled Silver. She turned defensively–then relaxed when she saw it was just Jet.
