Chapter 299 Worst Crisis

Tyler held back just enough. Caroline saw Tyler’s leg under Denton, so Denton didn’t hit the floor hard.

Denton cried out, “Tyler, I’m sorry! I was wrong. But I’ll do it again next time.”

Tyler kept a blank face. He already regretted not going all out.

Caroline laughed. She thanked him and walked away with the jar in her hand.

She could still hear Tyler and Denton messing around inside and thought the two of them were pretty funny.

Back in her room, Caroline set the jar of pickles on top of Raven’s head.

Raven wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, but whenever something rested on his head, he simply sat very still.

Caroline looked at the jar and sighed, “I can’t believe it’s December again.”

Time went fast. The New Year was coming soon. Christmas had already passed without her noticing.

Even though she had just finished eating, she popped one pickle slice into her mouth.

The cucumbers were not fully soaked in vinegar yet, so they were still a little sweet.

She drank some water after tasting it and then shouted, “Fantastic!”

Since Tyler gave me pickles, I’ll make a winter spiced porridge to thank him.”

That night, Caroline used ingredients from her storage to cook a big pot of porridge.

She had enough stored supplies, but she swapped out a few rare items and avoided using too many special ingredients. She didn’t vant to show off.

n the end, she made a slightly nontraditional winter–spiced porridge. She filled a large pot and set it aside in storage, planning to give some to Denton and Tyler the next day.

Jet and Raven watched hungrily while it cooked. Caroline scooped a small bowl each for them and half a bowl for herself as a late- night snack.

Caroline held a warm bowl and set smaller ones on the floor for Jet and Raven. She watched the snow fall and ate her porridge, spoon by spoon.

It was very good. The ingredients had been simmered all night and were soft and sticky. A little sugar made it sweet and fragrant.

That night she slept very well. Her stomach was warm. Raven stayed still all night and let Caroline hold him.

The next morning, she woke to a dog’s face close to hers and a little drool on her arm.

She poked Raven’s head. “Raven, you drooled again while sleeping!” she said.

Raven turned his head and looked shy. Then he casually licked her face in a big sweep. “Human, good morning.”
